Oh, my sweet friend, we were here together and I am so moved by what you have said! Thank God you are sober, and in such a formidable frame of mind.

One thing that I think undermined me (and us all) when I was drinking, was the self-loathing and the promises broken (to myself). I absolutely DID NOT LOVE MYSELF. Since I've quit, I may not be completely there, but that self-love has come back. And I think it is crucial in healing. I am no expert, but I would love you to read a book called Dying to be Me by Anita Moorjani. It changed my life... and it might change yours? Who knows...

I am in awe of you, I'm holding you tight in my energy, and girl, go get yourself well! Yee-ha!

            Thank you for your post.
I had a aunt with a large drinking problem (at least one of those big bottles of wine a day)....and a family in denial about her problem. She got ovarian cancer and died a few weeks after the diagnosis.

The family says she died from the cancer, which did kill her, but she couldn't fight it like you've been able too because her body was trashed from the alcohol. And, if her health had been better, maybe the cancer wouldn't have gotten so advanced.

About a year after he death I got my 2nd DUI (and wised up). Now I'm a year and a half sober....and the only person in the family who has quit alcohol.

            Stay strong, and keep fighting.
