Hello Undies,
I wasn’t going to post this melancholy event that just happened to me, but a friend suggested that I do as a reminder for us that life can be taken from us in our next breath.
On my way home on the F6 2 1/2 hours ago I was first on the scene at a fatal one car accident.
I was travelling north he was travelling south and apparently there were 2 crates on the fast lane. The car either swerved to miss, or hit one of the crates, came across the median strip rolling the car and it came to a stop on the edge of one of the northbound lanes. If I'd been 15 seconds faster I'd have been part of the accident scene. As I slowed my first thought was where is the other car? My second thought was how come the car is in that position. Then I saw the driver.
Fucking 000 is so fucking slow and I was put through to emergency in some other bloody state so they had to transfer me to NSW and while they were doing this and getting the location wrong, the man's life slipped away in front of my eyes as I was giving directions for the ambulance.
I usually have a couple of towels in the car in case I come upon an injured animal but they are in the wash today of all days so I had nothing to hold against his head which was still bleeding because my hand wasn’t enough.
He was trapped in the car and couldn't get him out till a truckie pulled up with a large breaking bar and got the door open. External heart massage merely pumped blood out of his mouth. I am helpless to help.
Then as soon as the police and ambulance and fire brigade came the people who had stopped just disappeared.
I had to hang around as the police had taken over my phone and were talking to 000 then I had to wait to make a statement. While I was waiting I saw his sunglasses on the ground where the car had rolled onto the drivers’ side. They were not damaged.
Where the car crashed is a clear spot in the median strip for emergency services . The rest is planted out with bottlebrush which would have helped take the force of the impact and helped stop the car from rolling over.
It wasn’t till after I got home that I thought “there was no airbag”.
My monk just phoned and I've asked him to say prayers tonight for the poor man and his family, and to remind people how fragile life is…. This man was on his way to wherever and within seconds there's now probably a widow and a couple of kids without a dad. No time to say goodbye or I love you. All because someone unknowingly dropped part of his load off a truck.
I haven’t related this event for shock or sensationalism, but as a reminder for us. What I’m asking you to do is maybe reflect for a few moments on how precious, how fragile our lives can be, and how in the space of a breath our life can be taken from us.
(And, how lucky is our dear Techie).

Raggsy - hope someone's looking after you tonight.
He is cooking me dinner tonight.
Lamb chops, tinned peas and Deb instant mashed potato. Dunno why, but I lurve Deb, or Edgell instant mash. He always cooks that when I need soul food.

Hello Happy,
I'm a little shaken but OK.
At the least he had a kind spirit near him when he left
Funny you should say that because throughout it all I was also praying for him and his family and that he be in no pain.

Got to go for now.
Two friends have sent me 2 movies................... one is a doco about a village in England with the same name as Mr Rags. Now, I've looked up RAGS in the Macquarie atlas but can't find it, so it will be intersting to watch.
The other friend has sent me an Aussie drama series that I completely missed, so my televiewing is sorted for the next week or so.
AND AND AND I saw the promo for MC (which I stopped watching) and NIGELLA of the pastel twin sets the same colour as the food she is cooking will be a guest.
Mr Rags lusts her and I LURVE her. So, when will she be appearing? Anyone know??
And and and I saw twice last night bloody ads for prolonging erections .......... as if those bloody billboards all over the state weren't enough, they are now on TV. I think I'll send a rocket to whoever I send it to, but I can't remember which authority it is. Any Undies know who I complain to?
Anyway got to go for time being.
Love
Fran
