So enjoyed up warmup in the weather here, up to 50 F (10C) degrees here yesterday! I’m so cold in this condo otherwise.

So kind of you, Cowboy, and I hope it’s a smooth & pretty drive today.

I made an appointment with an eye doctor, but it’s a year wait before I can get in to see him; and I still have to jump through the hoops of getting permission to see him from my primary doctor, and making sure he’s even in-network with my current insurance provider.

Last day of work today, Jude!

So good to hear from you, QW! We quit, or more accurately had our quits stick, at about the same time.

That’s scary about your daughter, Rava, and what a relief. My 3rd daughter turns 32 today, so that’s three daughters who are getting up in age, therefore getting more vulnerable to health concerns / no longer have the bloom of healthy youth to protect them.

Wishing all of us a fine AF day!

Rava, great news about your daughter's biopsy! It must have been so stressful for both of you, but glad that everything is O.K..

That's so kind of you to drive your friend to his appointment Cowboy. It's good to know that there are still decent people in this world.

First day of retirement. What to do, what to do... I know what I won't be doing, so 24 more please.

I'm sure you're going to find many things to fill your days Jude, enjoy your retirement!

That's a long wait to see your eye doctor Slo, I'm presuming it's not just an optometrist?

The trip and Hayyan's procedure went well, it was a pleasant drive and a good chance to learn what it's like to live in a war torn country.

Good morning Cafe. So glad all went well with your friend Cowboy. You are so nice to take that family under your wing while they get established. Jude I hope you do nothing today. Just hang around and get your bearings of your good life away from the grind of a job. Slo, all this insurance stuff is awful. My good friend went to the ER last week for an urgent problem. The ER hospital was in her network but she ended up getting a 700.00 bill from the ER. She called to inquire why and it was because the treating ER Doc was not in network. Well how in the hell is the patient supposed to know that??? She is currently disputing this. It’s enough to make you drink….. OK today our neighborhood is having a corn hole competition. Mr R and I are participating. I doubt we will make it to the championship. LOL. Wishing everyone a great and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

Rava, great news about your daughter's biopsy. So stressful! Good luck with corn hole!

ABC, thank you for being so kind to the immigrant family. How thankful they all must be for the opportunity to leave that war zone.

Jude, remind me.... isn't this your second retirement? Why do I think you retired then went back?

Unseasonably warm yesterday, which this snowbird would call HOT! It was 89! Cooling back down to the normal mid 70s. I'm starting to get the itch to migrate north!! Come on spring time.

Waves to all. I'm in for another day of freedom

Cowboy, is it as bad as it would seem to live in a war-torn country?

My neuropathy seems to be improving a little bit as I can do more on my feet than I have been able to of late. So all the endless inpatient and at-home treatments are helping some!

I hate my new window blinds actually. Can’t talk myself into them.

Toured an independent living facility yesterday, but it’s awfully expensive. So, better stay put.

Concentrate on playing corn hole, Rava, and ignore the drinking!

I have been given a free ticket to attend a Tony Robbin’s online event. I guess I’ll do it, since it’s free. Is anyone familiar with him? (I wonder if he is a charlatan, or if this is legit?)

Welcome back to retirement, Jude! Maybe this time it will stick!

Wonderful news about your daughter's biopsy, Rava.

Late check in for me today. 24 for all of us please and thank you.

Ginger, this is actually my third time retiring. The company that I work for recently changed hands, and I'm not thrilled about how things are being done. Major upheaval! I officially retired when I was 62, but after awhile I got bored staying home and went to work for the aforementioned company. It was a great job and very rewarding but at the same time often stressful. If I get bored again I'll look for something part-time, but for now I'm content to stay home.

Sorry that you still hate your window blinds Slo, but I guess that you could have much bigger problems.

I'm looking forward to another 24 hours of freedom...

Have fun at the corn hole competition Rava, and hope your friend is successful with her insurance claim.

Any dates in mind for returning back to your north home Ginger? I imagine you're getting anxious to see all the family again.

Were the window coverings a big expense Slo? Not something you can just change out again I suppose. I know the blinds Adam and Darcie put in their house in Sherwood Park were a major expense, not something you'd want to go through very often.

I imagine you'll find something to do to keep you busy Jude, you can always volunteer somewhere like dill and Rava do.

The way Hayyan explains it, it sounds like a civil war but with a few regimes always trying to take over power. I can't imagine trying to live your life with gunfire all around you everyday. His older brother is still missing, they don't know if he was executed or put in prison and they have no way to find out. Luckily his parents were able to flee to Malayasia and they are safe there.

Good morning Cafe. This is my second time signing in this morning. Everytime I went to “like” someone’s post I had to enter my password? Don’t really know what all that was about but I gave up and came back. Mr. R and I did not end up playing corn hole. It went on far too long and we just left. We were one of the last teams and after almost 2 hours of only 4 teams out of 20 we said screw it. Came home and started reading. Slo, I am sorry you are not liking those shades. Maybe you could post a picture of them so we can see what you mean. Maybe some creative person can give you some ideas to help you adapt to them. Hope everyone has a good day. Heading to the gym. 24 more please and thank you.

Thanks for explaining your work history, Jude.

Rava, I would have had to leave too! Reading sounds way more fun. Lol

Slo, some people think Tony Robbins is culty. You might want to Google him and read some opinions.

Hi Dill and Mul! Here we are at the end of another fine week. I'll take another day of freedom!

I am sure I would have given up on the corn hole too, Rava. I would not have had the patience. Home and reading....can't beat it!

Cowboy, listening to your immigrant friend makes me even more grateful than I already was to be living in freedom and in peace. Aren't we blessed?

Slo and Ginger, I have heard the name Tony Robbins, but that is the extent of what I know about him. I'd have to google him to know more.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

I spent the day with my daughter and three little grandchildren, and stayed through the evening so the couple could get out and go out for dinner together.
So lovely to have all those hugs from little ones! The just-turned two-year-old is getting rough though, and throwing a lot of punches, and smack at my eyes too.

I do have bigger problems than window coverings, Jude, like this paralysis, weakness, & neuropathy that has taken over my body. I got my daughter’s (their) kitchen & entryway floor all swept & mopped (and the truckload of stuck-on stuff scrubbed off), and it was just way too much for my body to handle. I hate this -not being able to do normal things.
The trouble with the window treatments is what Cowboy says: the shocking expense.

Thank you for the snapshot of Hayyan’s world, Cowboy. Just awful. Thankfully he & his wife got out, as did his parents. Not that relocating is easy, or having to leave your home.

Rava, your friend’s ER bill sounds typical sadly. So frustrating. As is hours of waiting your turn for cornhole!

An easy 24 hours AF today; spent with children, who don’t drink!
