I read the My Way Out book by Roberta Jewell, the woman who started this site. It helped me immensely! I am so glad that she was such a force in this world that she carried so many in her wake. This site was so vibrant and had so many good writers that were willing to share so much about themselves and their journeys. It was an incredible resource. Cowboy, your writings in those days really spoke to me and I thank you for that. Also for your continued steady presence and for this Cafe. Those were the glory days. Then came the troubles with Trolls. The site never really recovered from those times. Glad I found you guys and this Cafe!

Did you all read her book?

    Not today.
    Dill

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!

Sounds like you had an enjoyable time bringing in the New Year Mulburry, can't think of a better way of doing it other than with family and friends.

I don't think the breaker is weak Ginger, turn out it wasn't a ballast either. It was an exterior GFI receptacle that shorted out so I'll pick up a new one today and go back out and change it when the weather warms up. I removed the faulty one and covered the exposed wires with marrettes so that he could use the lights at least.

I think most of the smart phones now offer pretty much the same features Jude, it's all in what you're used to using I think. We got used to using iPhones after our Blackberry's because that's what all the kids had and iMessaging was the big thing back then as it was a free service between iPhone users.

I'm not ready to part ways with all my friends here either Rava. There's strength in numbers and even more when those people know firsthand how hard this can be.

Bubba and I have the exact same phone as you dill and are also experiencing shortened battery life as well as not enough memory for apps, upgrades, etc. We'' probably go with the larger screen iPhone 17 Pro sometime in the coming year. I haven't read Roberta's book nor listened to her cd's. But she did create something wonderful with this website. It's too bad that the membership has dwindled so low.

Not much on my agenda today, renew my driver's license and pick up what I need to fix Tommy's shop, then meet Bubba for lunch at the Senior's Center. They put on a lunch special every Tuesday and we usually go a couple times a month.

Hi Mul! Sounds like your "roll in" of the new year was enjoyable. Good for you!

Dill, I stay with android because I'm too lazy to learn the ins and outs of iPhones. Sounds like you're ready for a new one. Too bad it's not easier to replace the batteries like the old days. It really is a gotcha! I did read Roberta Jewell's book but it was years ago. I'm pretty sure I still have it digitally. Maybe I'll take another listen for old times sake.

ABC, I knew you'd figure out what was going on with the electrical. Your knowledge is boundless!

Rava, I'm with you. I'm not sure how I'd start my day if I wasnt checking in here. I shudder to think where I'd be without MWO.

          Hey, Jude!

Well, I went to PT and had a guy I'd not worked with before. Holy moly! He killed me. I could barely walk when I left. I'm scheduled to have him two more times and I'm not sure I want too. I'll be talking to the main PT that I've been working with and see what she says. If I need it, I'll do it but I want to be sure what he did was helpful. Crazy!

I'll join you guys in another day of freedom!

Dill, I'll have to check out Roberta's book; anything that helps keep the demons away is something that I need to read.

Temps have warmed up and now it's pouring rain outside. Personally, I'd rather see it snow. At least I wouldn't have to deal with mud.

Ginger, I know that PT can be painful but it shouldn't kill you. I would definitely ask for another therapist next time.

I'm so glad that we have another backup choice if this site ever shuts down which I sure hope never happens.

Waves to Rava, cowboy and Mul!

            24 more please...

              Good morning all!

I agree with Jude, Ginger. You definitely should request a different therapist and give your reasons. It may just be a learning experience for an overzealous therapist that needs to learn how to adjust to folks of different ages and abilities. PT is hard, no need to make it harder than it already is!

Cowboy, I wondered at the time Mr. D got his new phone if I should do it simultaneously because then we could navigate the process together. But my phone seems to be functioning better than his was and getting two new phones at the same time can be costly. Now when I do finally take the step, he will have to help me thru the process as he is more tech savvy than I. The new phone cost in the area of $1100! However he decided to pay for it in a monthly plan. I'll probably go that route too when I finally make the switch.

Hi Rava, glad you were feeling better yesterday. You've got this!!

Hi Mul, glad your year is off to such a good start.

              Not today.

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the book recommendation Dill, I am going to look it up. Anything to stay on the right path is worth looking into. I spend a lot of time on sober Tik Tok as well. Ginger, I am sorry your session was brutal. That must be awful. I hear most people complain about PT. Hi to Cowboy, Jude and Mul. Our little group ❤ hope everyone has a good and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

I agree with the others Ginger, unless is a required thing in your PT, I'd be looking to find out why he did what he did.

The new phones are expensive dill but it's hard to be without a smart phone either. We usually always go with a 2 year plan when we upgrade our phones and we get a pretty good credit on out old phones when we return them.

As long as it's not freezing rain Jude I don't mind it, but the mud is no fun to deal with either.

Dill, I just ordered the book from thriftbooks.com for less than 7.00. My local library didn’t have it. Thanks again for the recommendation!

Greetings all! I'm planning to go to chair yoga this morning. PT isn't until 300p today and I'm dreading it like the flu after Monday's fiasco. I road my bike 3.3 miles yesterday so I know I'm better. I just don't want a setback from an over zealous PT. Thanks for listening! I don't mean to complain but I am. Lolololol

Let's all have an easy day! I'll take another.
