That Wolf cabin does sound really cool (have never seen one in the wild) ! Had a bit of a scare today on the trails, I just heard a noise and a growl and my brother in front of me jumped in shock... but it was just a large black unleashed dog (hardly ever see people on that trail so it was a bit of a surprise).

I swear I had made a post on here about New Years, but now it's gone (disappeared into the ether apparently). Anyways, just said that we'll have a quiet one too: we'll have a family friend over and order some takeout.

Mulburry, hope that you aren't having the same problem that I had in losing posts. Hopefully it won't happen again.
Mr. J and I plan on spending a quiet night at home. We used to refer to New Years Eve as amateur night because there are a lot of people who don't usually drink much, but get wasted and attempt to drive home. I like to stay off the roads on NYE for that very reason.
I hope that everyone has a great day no matter what you are doing. Stay safe out there on the roads if you have to go out today!
I'm in for another 24 hours of freedom...

Good morning and happy New Year’s Eve. We will be spending the day attending a funeral. Just about the whole day will be the funeral, ceremony and luncheon. I am looking forward for this to be over and back at our tiny house tonight. Hope everyone has a good and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

I've done bit of hunting in northern Alberta Mulburry, lived in Fort McMurray for 2 years, was in Fort Chippewan for almost 3 years doing work and have never seen a wild wolf either.
How is the knee holding up Ginger?
Loved the battery references Rava, guess we all need to keep some on hand for those in need.
Bubba and I haven't decided if we'll go to Boston Pizza or just stay home, nothing like leaving it for the last minute lol. In any case we'll be in and out before anyone gets rowdy if we do go.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Rava, sorry you are facing such a long day. I'll be thinking of you and Mr. R. Thank you for sharing that little story about the batteries. It was really sweet and true.
Mulburry, you're evening sounds perfect. We will likely have some special snacks like shrimp cocktail and cheese&crackers, etc. while we watch a movie. We'll definitely be asleep round midnight!
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Dill

May we all enjoy bringing in the new year when we wake up tomorrow morning because none of us sound like we'll be doing it at midnight.
Rava, thinking of you guys today. Makes sense now with the grands.
Mul, I've seen only one wolf in my many years in the mountains and he was about 100 yards away. I could see he had a large tracking collar on. I felt sorry for him having to pack that thing around for the rest of his life. Just seemed wrong to me.
Knee seems a little better. Swelling is down and pain is manageable. Haven't tried it on a trail yet but I'm getting closer, I think.
Waves to all my Cafe friends on the eve of 2024! I'll take another day of freedom.

Happy New Year cafe! We had a quiet night watching tv and eating shrimp cocktail along with cheese and crackers. I was in bed by 8:00 pm and it was so nice to wake up without a hangover.
Rava, sorry that attending a funeral was in the plans but sometimes we have to do unpleasant things in life. Hopefully you got through it O.K.. I would try to be grateful that it's not my funeral!
Ginger, I'd be careful with the knee before you go hiking on the trails; you don't want to mess it up now that it's finally starting to heal.
Here's to 24 hours of freedom...

We did go to BP's last night, but no pizza. We had French onion soup, chicken wings, pizza bread, and cactus cut fries. Then we went over to the Lodge where bubba's mom is and joined in on a sing-along they had for all the residents for New Year's Eve. It was a fun way to spend part of the evening and the residents had a good time and so did Bubba and I.

Cowboy, that was a great way to spend NYE. Your talk yesterday about Boston Pizza put it in my mind to make a pizza at home, so that's what we did. I made the dough in the bread machine (channeling QW) and Mr. D concocted a sauce. We added the toppings and voila! Snacks in the evening while watching Vera on the Acorn streaming service we borrowed from the library. We channel surfed for a while looking for some NYE celebration worth watching but soon gave up on that! We hit the hay at 10:00pm.
Jude, your snacks were the same as ours.
Happy New Year everybody!
24 more for all of us here on our 1st day of 2025!

Sounds like we came through another celebration unscathed! Happy New Year.
We had snacks and played cards outside until 8p. Only three of the 8 of us imbibed and that was minimal.
Definitely great to wake up with a clear head. I'll take another day of freedom!

Good Morning Cafe and Happy New Year’s Day! Waking up clear headed with sore feet from wear heels all day yesterday. Cleaning the tiny home today and preparing to leave on Friday to head south. The funeral was sad but such a wonderful celebration of our friends life. He would be proud. Sad that it happened this time of year but as we all know death doesn't pick a day. I have one New Year’s resolution that I will probably break by Friday but i am gonna to try to stop snacking at night. I have gained about 5 pounds and need to rein it in. LOL. Hope everyone has a wonderful and sober day. 24 more please and thank you!
