Welcome to the cafe Slo and thanks for the advice about refreshing the page, I will certainly give it a whirl.
Dill, I was also scratching my head trying to figure out how a ten year old could drive a car and have a job. Oops.
Minus ten degrees this morning but thankfully there is no wind. Looks like a lot of us are in a deep freeze. Brrr...

Welcome to you, Slo! We will be so glad to have you with us. Now there are two Midwesterners in our ranks, You, and myself here in Ohio.
Jude, we are going to get a pause in the deep freeze starting here starting tomorrow. Thank goodness. I worry so about the wildlife and farm animals. Hopefully the worst is behind us.
Rava, I agree that we needed change, and I fingers crossed that things start getting better for the average Joe.
Cowboy, I think it is interesting that you would watch the Inauguration activities in another country. I bet more people than usual were doing exactly that. I watched some, but I think that was the first time I ever watched one so I haven't got a sense of how it compares historically. I can't imagine having the stamina to get through all that hoopla!
Ginger, how is your knee? Do you and your sister both like to get out on the trails?
Mul, waves to you. Hope you are keeping warm.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
Dill

Good morning Cafe and welcome Slo. I remember being in a group with you a few years back. This group has breakfast every Sunday cooked by Cowboy. We are lucky. Sounds like it’s cold everywhere. When it snow in Florida you know it’s cold. This freezing weather is all over the map literally. Dill, I am glad that was a typo about your grandson. LOL. Hope everyone stays warm and has a good and sober day. 24 more please!

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Thanks for clearing up the young driver mystery dill, I never thought about the age being a typo lol. Not sure what possessed me to watch the inauguration, nothing better to do I guess haha.
You've got another thing to try now Jude, but I'm thinking that it has something to do with posting from a kindle.
It's great to have you join us Slo, the more the merrier! We also have ceiling fans with lights, one in the living room, one in the eating nook, and one in the downstairs family room. We've never used the fans or the lights in the living room or family room, but do use the lights on the one over the table in the eating nook. I'm presuming the surge protector they put in was on the electrical panel covering the whole house, so yes, that's a good thing.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Welcome, Slo!
Thirty two F here this morning but no snow. Lol
Enjoying my sister time for sure and with her abstaining it makes things even more enjoyable!
Did I mention we were truck shopping? Found one and should get it Friday.
It's a good day for a good day! Ill take another day of freedom!

Thanks for the welcome, Everyone!
The ceiling fans were in, but with no lights, so it was dark in here. Now I can flip a switch in any room and have light from the ceiling. It’s good to know that the whole-house surge protector that they talked me into is a good thing to have, Cowboy.
Wonderful that your sister is abstaining, Ginger! Is it because she questions her drinking habits / lost her “off” switch?
I post from an iPad, but I have to completely delete the MWO page and bring it up fresh every few days. The tech guy from here recommended that.
Saw many of the little grandkids yesterday for a couple hours. I fed them peanut butter & jelly sandwiches -a novelty in this era of Bento boxes filled with blueberries, strawberries, and little bite-sized pieces of cheese, sausage, nuts, and squeezable yogurt.
Got a glitch in my car fixed today (it kept saying I was pulling a trailer). It’s always something. What kind of a truck are you getting, Ginger?

Slo, six and a half years is amazing, congratulations!
Cowboy, might have to start using my phone instead of my kindle to write posts. Hate to post anything on my phone because everything is so small and it's hard to type, but I'll give it a whirl.
Ginger, glad that you and your sister are having a good time and that she didn't leave early.
I'm in for another day of freedom.Last edited by Jude58; January 23, 2025, 06:12 AM.

That's pretty cold for where you are Ginger, but as you said, no snow. I imagine the places that got that snow like dill's daughter were amazed by it. What kind of truck did you get?
It's hard to believe you're at 6.5 years already Slo, congratulations! It's annoying when those warnings in the vehicles pop up for no reason.
I wouldn't be able to post from my phone either Jude, too small of everything for me lol.

Lots of pretty snow fell here yesterday. Which means it’s no longer “too cold to snow”!
I am undergoing a “New Mind”, brain re-set program right now, so 3x/week I go in and have electrodes attached to my head, and wear glasses with flashing lights in them, and ear plugs with special music. We’re trying to bring my brainwave patterns into a more normal pattern, to heal from C-PTSD, anxiety, & depression. It’s part of a larger program to heal (if possible) from the severe peripheral neuropathy that I am struggling with. So I will go and do that program again today.
24 for more hours for me, please!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Congrats on 6.5 years, Slo. Good luck with the mind reset appt today. I'll be thinking about you.
Sis has been a big drinker just like me. She decided her health was taking too big a hit so decided to quit for two weeks. She hit that mark and felt so much better she's continued. I think she's at five weeks now. It's sure made it easier to have her here!
We bought a 2025 Ford Maverick Pickup. It's more like a car with a bed. It's a hybrid so that will take a bit of getting used to.
Waves to all! I'll take another day of freedom!
