Yes exactly. Also, maybe a better way of looking at it as being a blanket failure is to say: maybe you were a "failure" for one night... but you were a success for 60 nights!

Rava, you are not a failure! Alcohol is cunning, baffling and powerful, but you can beat it. I know that it's not for everyone, but maybe an addiction counselor can help. Just a thought...

It's pouring rain here this morning, but I can't complain; we really do need it after a pretty dry summer.

Many of the cats at the shelter are allowed to roam parts of the facility as long as they get along with each other. There is one cat that is all black and his canine teeth(fangs) are quite prominent so I call him Dracula. He's the sweetest cat, and one of my favorites. I can't get too attached as I have enough cats already!

Good morning Cafe. And thanks for all the support. You are right my life now compared to when I was daily drinking is completely different and definitely not a failure. When I get together with my family, which I enjoy, there is always heavy drinking involved. I know that and need to plan accordingly. I don’t believe we have ever done anything as a family without tons of alcohol involved. They all seem to drink normally but me. It’s really strange and hard for me to come to terms with. Ginger, it sounds like your family is a lot like mine. People find it strange that I dont like to do evening activities and it’s because there is always alcohol involved. I stay away from most of that. This bonfire was the perfect storm and I regret it. It’s a new week and I am feeling myself again. Jude, sorry about your volunteer job. Hope your heartstrings are not pulled so much that it causes you anxiety. If so there are many other volunteer jobs to explore. Hi to Dill, Cowboy, Mul. 24 more please and thanks you. The rain and cooler temps must feel good Jude. We're in the middle of an extreme heat wave here (in the 90's) until next week. We could probably use some rain after that but I don't want to jinx harvest by wishing for it lol.

Glad you made it home safe and sound Ginger. I'm thinking the parents have set the example for their kids, no wonder they are like they are.

I think you might be right about dogs being more sociable dill, cats seem to be a bit more shy.

You've got this Rava, and having a plan for future events is a great way to stay on top of your quit.

Sounds like tomorrow will be the day we get back to the fields, then it will be a long run unless we get rained out. I'm fine with a few days break especially in this heat!

ABC, were you evolved with harvest back when the old equipment was open air? Just wondering because I think that would be awful in the heat!

Rava, over the years I've noticed many similarities between us. Family drinking is one. I've taken to being brutally honest about my drinking when I'm offered a glass of something at family gatherings. I know when I start up and they hear my spiel, they'll wander away and won't ask again. I'm sure some of them see themselves in what I say. I'm over being quiet about my addiction.

I'm hoping to get out of this hand brace today and begin to use my hand a little more so off to my appointment.

Rava and Ginger, I share your history of heavy drinking family. It's what I grew up with and thought was normal. Weddings and funerals were all heavy drinking events as well. I gave up drinking at family get togethers when I joined MWO. I really think if I had stayed closer geographically to my family I wouldn't have been able to even begin to get a handle on my drinking. Lucky for me, Mr. D's family were not drinkers and I had some really good friends that I met through work that were also non-drinkers. It actually opened up a new world of possibilities to me!

Ginger, I hope you got out of your hand brace.
