Mul and Ginger, that fire/smoke situation sounds awful! I hope for rain and some breezes to clear things up. I really hadn't heard about the fires but I think I've stopped paying attention to the news lately. I needed a break from the chaos.

Jude so good of you to share your bounty.

Cowboy, the longer trips like that are less frequent. It's usually local destinations. But my son doesn't mind the driving. In fact I think he enjoys it. He listens to audiobooks and podcasts to pass the time. And of course, it is a work vehicle so he is not putting miles on his personal vehicle.

Rava, I think it's hard to find where something is made. Glad you have at least one pane of glass still in place. I wonder how long it will be before it gets replaced.

I'm going to the outlet mall to do a little shopping. I haven't been there in quite a while and I think I will find it much changed. I am not really all that fired up about shopping. I going just to spend a bit of time with my girlfriend. This is the friend I often drive to appointments for her cancer treatments. We haven't seen each other as much since her son and his family moved back to Ohio to be near her. I'm really happy that they did that for her. They plan to return to Oregon after their youngest graduates high school. She's in 7th grade now. I can't imagine uprooting like that but he has a CBD store in Florida and when he moved out here he started another one in the town he grew up in. He's been very successful with it.

    Not today.

    24 hours please.

    Dill

It's great that you share like that Jude, our neighbor usually brings us some of her homemade cherry jam. And I share some of my homemade sausage and jerky with our neighbors.

I haven't been to a mall in years dill, not even sure what stores are in them anymore lol. Nice that you'll have a visit with your friend.

We've had the wildfire smoke here for the past few days as well Ginger and Mulburry, thankfully it's supposed to clear out today. I've not heard of these GLP-1 drugs Ginger, do you know what they are?

It's a cool 2C (35F) here this morning, a sure sign that fall is just around the corner. Thankfully the furnace in the camper works good lol

Good morning Cafe. Cowboy the GLP1 drugs are weight loss drugs like ozempic. Everyone I know is on them and still drink. So I don;t know about the booze noise. I think I will stay away from those meds because to me they are a quick fix and someday they will find that they are not good for you. I will pass on that. My friends say the food noise is gone, but I still see them downing their wine. Our door gets replaced in 2 weeks. They called me today. Very happy that it is covered! We have 3 grands for the night tomorrow. It should be fun and crazy all at the same time. They are used to living in a huge house with all the bells and whistles and this tiny house will be a challenge for them. It’s our job to introduce them to the other side of life, with fishing, crabbing and riding around in a golf cart. I am thinking they will love it. I am looking forward to making some memories with these little guys! 24 more please and thank you.

Rava, three grands! You're going to need a couple naps. Enjoy! We are headed to play with the great grands today. I'll need a nap too. Lol I'm with you and your thoughts on ozempic. I fear that years down the road they may find side affects they have no idea about now and it doesn't sound like you can really get off it. Hmmm

Jude, can you post a pic of Peaches on Facebook? I'll look there. Cyrus really loves to look at kitty pictures. Lol

Dill, I have such wonderful memories of shopping with my oldest granddaughter. We'd even drive to Seattle and spend the night. She'd be in heaven and I would be too just watching her enjoy herself. Great memories. Enjoy!

ABC, won't be long now! Thanks again for harvesting.

Mul, my sister actually had ash on her car yesterday! She lives about seven miles from me. The fire that's burning here now is my old stomping ground. I raised my boys up there. We've hiked 100s of miles in that area b
ack in the day. It will look so different for years and years to come. This one was a lightening strike so I guess mother nature decided it was time to renew that area.

Slo, check in. Everyone would like to know how you're doing.

Here's to another day of freedom!

I agree about these weight loss drugs that everyone seems to be on now. Mr. J has tried several of them and he felt so crappy that he had to stop. He didn't want to eat anything because his guts were a mess. No wonder people lose weight while taking them, but it's an easy way out for people that want to lose weight. I also wonder about the long term affects of these drugs so I guess that I will stay away from them and lose weight the old-fashioned way.

Rava, I'd much rather go fishing, crabbing and ride around in a golf cart than live in a fancy house and I'm sure that the grands will have a wonderful time.

Peaches is still pretty shy, but I actually got her to purr yesterday. Small steps...

Cowboy, I'm with you on the malls, not my cup of tea either.

              Waves to all!

              24 more please...

We have so much in common Jude that it's uncanny. Mr. D has also tried one of the weight loss drugs and had a very bad experience with it. His guts got off balance big time. He hasn't tried any others as of yet, but I don't think he will. And like you, I would rather enjoy the simple pleasures with my family and friends than all the grand things people chase after. And as for malls, I like them for indoor spaces to walk in winter. The mall I went to yesterday was a once thriving "outlet mall" that used to offer bargains in name brand stores. But it is a shadow of itself now. The internet has pretty much made it redundant. I imagine it will be closed down soon. There were only a handful of stores left open. I was disappointed that the Pepperidge farm store was gone! Glad to hear Peaches is warming up to you! She'll come around. Has Mr. J had the pleasure of the purring yet?

Rava, I had heard that those weight loss drugs have helped some people with alcohol cravings but I am skeptical. I've also heard that the rebound after going off is a reality and that the weight comes back. I just don't think we all should be running to a pill bottle for everything. The other day my granddaughter's doc asked her about her sleep patterns and they got to discussing her difficulties getting to sleep. The doc gave her good advice about healthy habits that should correct her problems. But then she said, "If none of this helps I can prescribe ...." It was an anti-anxiety sleep aid. Atarax was the brand name. I had never heard of it. She was going to write the script and send it home with us, just in case we needed it. I thought it would be all too easy to not give the healthy habits approach time to work and go straight to the pills so I told her no. We would wait and see how it goes and if it continues to be a problem gdaughter's father would contact her for the script.

                Hello Ginger, Cowboy and Mulburry.

                Not today. 24 more, please.

You'll have that kitten snuggled up in your lap and purring away in no time Jude.

I think your gkids will love spending time with you Rava without the bells and whistles as they get to experience so many different activities, the kind that make lasting memories.

I agree with you dill, society today seems to be dependent on one sort of pill or other. The doctors aren't helping the situation when they offer scripts for just about any ailment.

Hope you enjoyed your day with the great gkids Ginger, you probably don't have too much of a problem keeping up with them lol.

I got to come back to Vegreville last night as Corey said it was a weekend off from combining. There are a bunch of other things that have fallen behind such as moving cattle to new pasture, green feed that needs cutting, some straw baling, and the canola needs desiccating (sprayed) as we won't have anything to harvest after we're done the wheat if that doesn't get done. So I've got a weekend of r&r with Bubba!

Good morning Cafe. Cowboy, enjoy your r and r with Bubba. You certainly have deserved it! Jude, so glad Peaches is purring. She is just starting to feel comfortable with you! Love it. I think the weight loss drugs are basically anorexia in a bottle. I have friends that are literally skinny and sick and look awful but they are happy to be thin. What a stupid trade off. The ones that take it and eat properly and exercise are benefiting I believe from the drug. But most are abusing it. As far as sleeping pills go. I am a fan of them. I have been thru way too many sleepless nights and they have helped me function very well. So i am not saying anything bad about them. I think we each have our own issues. I tried gummies thinking I could replace the alcohol cravings but I dont like them. I like booze. I dont think for me it’s replacing anything by substituting an occasional sleeping pill. As long as I dont drink I am happy. Wishing everyone a great and sober day. I am gearing up for a busy weekend with these kids! Say a prayer for me please! LOL

Rava, prayers are on the way! Have fun.

Jude and Dill, crazy how your hubbies had such similar reactions to the meds. There's no way I could deal with nausea on a regular basis! Blah

ABC, enjoy your break with Baba. I know you will!

It's raining lightly here and it's lovely. Praying it clears some smoke and helps with the Wildcat Fire currently burning over 5,000 acres just 50 miles NW of us.

We had a great time with the littles. We played with the golf clubs, had a tea party and made lunch out of play dough to name a few things. Four and two are such great ages! New baby is four months and such a happy boy. Great day all around!

                        Hi Mul and Slo!

I'll join you all in another day of freedom!

abcowboy wow that is cold, we're in the midst of an endless summer, warm nights and it would be close to 30C here if not for the smoke (which is keeping it to about 25C). That being said, we're supposed to get slightly cooler temperature and hopefully some rain over the next few days, thankfully. Ginger999 we've had small specs of ash on the car over the last couple of days too... but the smoke is finally starting to clear a bit (was still really bad this morning) so hopefully the beginning of the end. Hope it clears for you too!

I think I will stay away from those meds because to me they are a quick fix and someday they will find that they are not good for you. I will pass on that.
I completely agree. It's much better to do things naturally if you can, rather than just look for the quick fix. I lost over 100 pounds just with a little will power, discipline and routine; losing weight felt like a piece of cake compared to quitting drinking to tell you the truth. And like you say, with these drugs you never know what the side effects, long term effects and rebound effects might be; I've had too many bad experiences with medications that I'm extremely wary, it seems like everything has a downside and only if it's really necessary and the benefits outweigh the negatives, is it worth it.
dill I was also a little shocked that my mom's doctor prescribed her benzodiazepine based sleeping pills (she also has a hard time with sleep). I made sure to tell her the dangers of physical addiction (very much like alcohol, maybe even worse) and to only take the lowest dose necessary and only very occasionally.

Wow Mul, I didn't realize that you had lost so much weight. Kudos to you!

Cowboy, glad that you are spending some quality time with Bubba. Enjoy!

Ginger, sounds like you had a great time with the grands, they are so cute at that age.

Dill, we do have a lot in common and I wish that we lived closer to each other. In fact, I wish that everyone in the cafe lived near me. We'd have a blast!

I tried to post a pic of Peaches but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I'll have better luck trying it with my phone instead of the Kindle.

                            Hi Rava!

                            24 more please...

Mul, well done to you on that weight loss. I agree with you that the discipline involved would be nothing compared to the discipline it takes to quit drinking. But it is still highly commendable. Mr. D is addicted to carbs. I wish he would try cutting refined and processed foods out of his diet completely...no half measures. I think I'll encourage him to try it. The problem is he loves deserts. Most doctors just want to help and they think prescribing something will do it. But even just giving a 14yo the notion that the sleep problem can be quickly fixed with a pill can set them up on a lifetime of psychological dependence, IMO. Of course I am pro medication if it is necessary. But like you, I think it's best to try natural methods and habits first and then if all else fails take the smallest amount of medication needed.

Jude, you're right! We would all have a great time if we lived near each other! Rava and Ginger could guide us in some craft activities and Cowboy could give us country dance lessons! You could grow us some peaches and apples and I could make pies and breads for the Cafe!

Rava, I am a fan of sleeping pills too, as needed. Sleep is so important to our health! Do you feel like your sleep is better when you are alcohol free? I sure do. But at the same time I have some nights where sleep eludes me. So frustrating!

Ginger, your day with the little ones sounded grand! Love those play doh sandwiches.....

Cowboy, glad you've had some time off with Bubba.

24 more for all of us please and thank you. Coffee's on!!
