Congrats on 4 years of sobriety Mul, that's quite an accomplishment!

I was thinking about Quit Wining and was wondering how he is doing. We haven't heard from him for awhile.

Ginger, my sister had both knees replaced and is very happy with the results.

Rava, so glad that you made it through the BBQ unscathed. I think that you'll be fine at the wedding open bar if you have a plan and stick with it. Remember, it's the first drink that gets you drunk.

Dill, hope that everything went well with your cardiologist appointment yesterday.

    Hey cowboy and Slo!

Good morning Cafe. Jude, you are so right it’s the first drink and it only takes one because the rest follow suit too easily. So Shirley Temples are the way to go. Ginger, Mul is right, you might just have to take the leap! My friend is having her second knee replacement tomorrow. Since the metal creeps you out do they use other material such as bone? Or plastic for the procedure? Just curious. Today is a dreary and rainy day. I am headed to exercise class early today. Wishing everyone a great and sober day. I am enclosing a pic of the sunset as we left the beach BBQ on Sunday. A perfect ending to a sober day!

4:50am in Alberta, 24 more for me please, and thanks...

In the last 24 hours, these friends have joined in for 24 hours of wellness:

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!

Beautiful sunset Rava! I think you'll be just fine at the wedding this weekend.

I often think about the people who no longer post as well Jude, wonder how they are doing etc. Which brings Slo to mind, wish she would check in and let us know how she is.

Like the rest of the gang Ginger, I think you just have to go and get it done. So many people are getting hips and knees replaced with amazing results. The problem in Alberta is the year long wait list unless you want to go private and pay for it yourself.

If I remember correctly Mulburry, carpal tunnel surgery is not too bad with minimal recovery time. Glad your mom is looking into it.

How did things go at the cardiologist's dill?

Got to come back to Veg last night. We finished up the swathed canola yesterday and now it's just a waiting game on the 2000 acres of standing canola. Corey said he'd probably give it a try on Thursday so we'll see how that goes. Looking forward to getting my teeth back this morning, sure hope they look good and fit as well as the top plate.

Cowboy, so glad you got to get back and touch base for a bit. It sounds like you are on the downhill slope with the harvest now.

Rava, thanks for the gorgeous sunset picture. I do love a good sunset! I think you are doing fantastic on managing these social gatherings. Keep it going!

Jude, I too sometimes think of past group members. Mr. Vervil comes to mind for me because he lives fairly close and he was connected with the Bengals in my mind because he was an event photographer. I hope they are all well and if the ever check in that they still find us here, keeping the Cafe lights burning...

Ginger, I think Mul hit the nail right on the head. Sometimes you just have to take the leap. I asked Mr. D just now if in the end he was glad he went through his shoulder surgery 2 years ago. It was a difficult and painful experience and he worried that it would not be worth it. But he just now answered, "OH, YES!" He said he's very glad he did it. I think knee surgery is not as bad as shoulder surgery, or so I've been told. You are a hearty soul. You can do it!

My cardiologist appointment went well. The doc said he needs an ultrasound of my arteries to monitor the aneurism. It's been stable so far, so fingers crossed on that. I am so glad that my brother encouraged me to ask my GP to refer me for a stress test a few years back. That aneurism was developing silently. Now I'm on medication for it and we are monitoring it and it's actually been reduced in size.

Hope we all have a great, AF day!

Dill. That's great news about the meds helping the aneurism and that you're committed to keeping a close eye on it. Like you, I'd love to hear from those that have gone missing for awhile.

ABC, good luck on that bottom plate. My fingers are crossed for a perfect fit!

Rava, what a glorious picture! Thank you for sharing. I love everything about the ocean.

Mul, I'm glad your Mom is seeing a specialist. I dont think she'll regret getting it fixed!

Jude, does Peanut stay in the house 100% of the time or are you training her to be outdoors too. Poor Cy never goes outdoors without us. He'd love to but hubby refuses.

Thanks everyone on the knee advice. Last year when I saw the surgeon he said it wasn't bad enough for surgery. I hope he'll think it is now. I've literally tried everything this summer with zero improvement. My appt is Nov 3 in AZ. Sorry to be such a whiner. I'm so used to being active, this has been a real wake-up call. But...... I'm not drinking and that's a very, very good thing! I'll take another

Great picture Rava! I grew up in New England and really miss being so close to the ocean. There's nothing like falling asleep with the sound of the waves crashing into shore. So peaceful.

Cowboy, sure hope that your new choppers look and feel better than the last ones!

Ginger, you're not being a whiner and getting older can really suck sometimes. Hopefully, you can have a knee replacement sooner rather than later.

Dill, I also have an aortic anueurism and have it checked every year to make sure that it's not getting any bigger.

                Hi Mul!

                24 more please...

Good morning Cafe. Dill glad you are monitoring that aneurism and Jude, same for you. I honestly didn’t know people had them and they are being monitored. I always thought they were automatically removed. This site has taught me something! Cowboy, good luck with your new choppers today! Must be exciting to be able to eat normally again! Hi to Ginger and Mul! This wedding coming up will not break me. I am think of all the wild drinking that is going to take place. I want to be a spectator and not a participant. My plan is to stay completely sober. The first drink would take me down and I know that. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please!

Jude, we have a lot in common but I'm sorry to hear one of the things we have in common is an aneurism! LOL We are lucky though, aren't we? I feel so fortunate to have competent doctors that I trust.

Rava, enjoy being an observer and not a participant in the drinking at the wedding. I have done it and I know you can too. One drink and you can go down and it's not worth it!

Cowboy, I sure hope the teeth are just right!

                    Waves, Ginger and Mul!

                    Not today.

I thought the same as you Rava, that they removed them as soon as possible.

You're not whining Ginger, you're just reminding us of the fact that getting older isn't for wimps. I sure hope one of the docs sees the need for a replacement.

You two have way too much in common dill and Jude! Obviously there's no pressing need to have them removed or it would have been done right away.

My teeth are great! They look good now and fit perfectly. It's nice to be able to smile again let alone be able to chew the foods I love. Although I don't have an excuse for eating so much ice cream now lol.

ABC, great news! Ps.... I never need an excuse to eat ice cream. Lol

Jude and Dill, I'm like Rava, I had no idea they monitored those and just didn't remove. I'm glad you're both staying on top of them!

Rava, when I go to large gathering the though of drinking for fun never comes to mind, its always about anxiety being around people. I'm starting to say no to things that aren't required. I'm almost 70, I think I've earned it. Lol

Hi Mul! I'll take another day of freedom.
