Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

I'm not sure about scrapple either dill, but I'm sure I'd give it a try. I wonder if it's like Spam, or Spork, if you have the same down there.
You'd get a better explanation of scrapple from Rava Peachie, she introduced it to the rest of us.
Enjoy your hike today Ginger, no overdoing it!
Waves to Jude and Mulburry...

Good morning Cafe. For those not knowing what scapple is? It’s basically an organ meat. It’s really good and my family loves it. It is not readily available through out the country. Most of my neighbors in FL dont know what it is and it’s very hard to find down here. Back home everyone eats it just like bacon or sausage. When people say “whats in it”. I say “dont ask.” LOL. Hope everyone has a great day today. 24 more please and thank you.

Hi everyone. I looked up scrapple . Rava thank you for introducing a new food to me. Not my cup of tea but glad you enjoy it. It would seem it's an ancient recipe . I am British by birth and my mum cooked a lot of offal dishes at one time. She drew the line at brains and sweetbreads tho, thank goodness., How things change and not.
My family came out to Australia from Yorkshire in the UK in 1961. We were offered a very cheap passage to help populate the colony and my dad was a skilled trades person so we spent 5 weeks on a boat to get here. I was 10yrs old, my elder sister was 13 and my little sister was 2yrs. What a journey.
We all settled in. Although I think my dad was always homesick for his homeland....me too even so young I remember it well.
Anyway I've rattled on enough and bed is calling.
Have a great day, whatever it may bring and please know I thank you for welcoming me.

Peachie, thank you for sharing your migration story. Five weeks on a ship with kids? I bet it was no Disney Cruise line adventure! Wowza
Rava, organ meat? Hell no. Lol
Dill, I'm glad you got that puzzle under control! Sometimes, I sort by shapes when the area is solid color. That really helps with sky, fields, etc.
ABC, the hike out back was lovely. The desert is so green from the rain. It's wonderful to get back out there, even if it is a short walk. Thankful
Jude, hope all is well in your world. You too, Mul!
I'll join you all in another day of freedom!

Thanks for sharing the photo, Ginger. I presume it was from your hike. It's so great you are able to get out and explore once again! Today may be your last day of PT, right?
Peachie, that was interesting hearing about your family's move. You must've grown to like living in Australia since you chose to stay and raise a family there.
I've tried SPAM but didn't like it particularly. I never heard of SPORK before except as a utensil that's shaped like a spoon with prongs....
We're having some really cold weather here. I feel like I've moved to Alberta!
Not today...

Rava, I've never had scrapple before but after finding out what's in it, I doubt that I would try it. Not a fan of organ meats.
Wow Peachie, that must have been some journey to Australia if you spent 5 weeks on a boat to get there! Have you ever been back to Yorkshire to visit? I've heard that it's a beautiful part of England and would love to see it in person someday.
Ginger, I bet it feels good to get outside and hike but don't over do it. Great picture, you sure do live in a beautiful area.
Cowboy, when you mentioned Spam it brought back memories from my childhood. We didn't have much money so Spam would make an appearance at the dinner table quite often in those days.
Dill, we are having a cold snap here as well and it's currently 12

Good morning Cafe. Peachie thanks for sharing your story. I cant even imagine that long boat ride as a 10 year old. Wow. That’s stuff books are made of. For all those turning their nose up at the scrapple, don’t knock it unless you try it. LOL. It’s very tasty. Anyway, more for me! Heading out to volunteer job today and then returning some items at the store. I have been working on the mahjong and still not getting too far. It’s definitely a work in progress. Ginger, glad you got to take that hike. Thanks for sharing the picture. Hope you are all weathering the cold. It’s still cold here as well but nothing like what you are dealing with. 24 more for us all today. NOT TODAY!

Very cold here but sunshine expected for today so at least things will look nice!
Hope everyone stays safe and warm through this cold snap. (You and Rava exluded, of course, Peachie! Wishing you cooler temps!) Come to think of it, I heard that it's pretty chilly down your way, Rava...)
Not much to say today so...
24 more hours of freedom, please and thank you.Last edited by dill; Yesterday, 07:02 AM.Dill

Now that's a long boat trip Peachie! It would seem even longer if you suffered from seasickness. I like being out on the water but that would be even too much for me.
There's lots of room up here in Alberta for you dill lol, sounds like we're a bit warmer than you right now but it's going to get colder here as well according to the forecast. I think Spork is just another brand name for Spam, and I only saw it in Saskatchewan when I was growing up.
We had it lots as kids as well Jude, mom would quite often fry it and serve with macaroni and cheese. Bubba still buys it to use in sandwiches but I very rarely eat it now.
It looks quite green out your way Ginger, and I see Mr G likes getting out for the hikes as well.
I'm sure you'll get the hang of the real Mahjong if you keep up with it Rava, one more thing to keep you busy anyway.
We got a bit of snow overnight and the temp warmed up as well. I'm actually looking forward to getting out and doing some shoveling for the exercise lol.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Hi everyone. Ginger you sure are right about the trip on the boat not being like today! It was packed like sardines in tiny little cabins . But there was camaraderie and a sense of adventure too.
Dill we all loved the sunshine here, especially my Mum. It was easy to settle here.
Jude I went back once when I was 18yrs old. I loved it but It seemed so old and grey after everything here was new and sunny. Mum and Dad made many trips back.
Yorkshire is indeed a beautiful county.
Rava, yes those adventures by immigrants have indeed been turned into books but not by me! Haha.
Well, as per normal , my bed and kitties are calling me. Little Patches let's me know she's ready for bed if I stay up too late. Hope everyone has a great day. Another hot one tomorrow.
Night night.

I graduated from PT!! 3x a wk for 6 weeks is a long time but so necessary with a joint replacement. They were very happy with my end results. I see the surgeon next Monday. I'm hoping he feels the same.
Peachie, I bet that was a big adventure for a 10yo! I
My cat tells me when it's bed time too. Lol
We also had fried spam when I was a kid. My mom loved the stuff.
Hey Dill, Rava and Jude.
Not today!

Weird, I made a post yesterday, and it got "flagged for spam" and it's still showing as "unapproved".... anyone else have these sorts of problems lately? Anyways, here's the post:

Big Seinfeld fan as well, there are some episodes I must have seen well over a dozen times by now, lol. We still watch it once in a while when I'm out at my mom's house, but not too often, cause we've over-watched it so much already. Kramer is awesome of course, but George has some great episodes too. I really like Curb Your Enthusaism as well (the co-creator of Seinfeld, Larry David's show). George in the show was loosley based on him.
I watch a ton of stuff, but for comedy I would highly recommend The Studio, it was both hilarious and a scathing satire of the hollywood film industry.
"Headed to the desert today for a short, easy hike."
That's amazing Ginger999... I'm sure you'll be doing the longer harder hikes in no time! We've been having an absolutely amazing stretch of weather the last week, sunny every day and mild (8-10C), feels almost like spring is here already. Have been getting out for some hikes, so nice when the sun is shining!
