Good morning Cafe. Cowboy I am still playing Mahjong but my newbie friend has taken off and is really super good. I am proud of her but it just shows me how slow I can be with a tile game. It does not come naturally and it completely clicked with her which makes it not as much fun to play with her. She beats me every time! I am still playing tho because it’s a great way to pass the time and not think about drinking. Peachie I am sorry you overdrank. Just keep coming back like we do when we slip. Ginger, those snakes would send me packing too. Do people in your neighborhood regularly get bit by them? Hi to everyone and hope today is a good day. 24 more please.

I agree with Jude Ginger, heat and rattlesnakes would be enough to get me headed for home.
How did you make out with the computer shopping dill?
We had those strong winds as well Mulburry, not quite as strong as you guys got but lots of trees uprooted, and many houses lost shingles.
Waves to the rest of the gang...

Evening Cafe. Much better day today. Thank you for your concern. I really appreciate it. I haven't been looking after myself properly, poor choice of food and no exercise and it takes its toll on my wellbeing. However, today I have given myself a shake off and decided to rectify those things which improves my mental health.
Mul, great to hear from you. Hope you settle back in at home and those triggers disappear.
Rava I know what you mean about things not clicking sometimes. Well done for persevering.
Ginger looks like you'll be thankful to be heading home soon!
Jude, thank you for being here early every day.
Hi to Dill and Cowboy.
Nightie night

Mul, I can totally relate to certain places being a trigger. It's hard for me because most of my drinking took place at home. Lots of triggers in my home and they still come out of the blue at times! I mostly drank while preparing the evening meal, and then during and after....until bedtime. I'm with Jude: "Stay strong." I sure am glad you didn't have any wind damage to your place. Travelling by bus would have been frightening in those high winds. Were you travelling when the wind was that crazy?
Cowboy, I am not one to trust "refurbished" either. I was kind of surprised when Mr. D made the purchase. We sure learned our lesson on that one! No more refurbished, ever! Jude and Rava, I went to Best Buy and made a decision to switch from the Microsoft products (Surface 5) to the Apple and got a Macbook Air. There will be a learning curve but since we have Apple phones I think I will be able to figure out the Macbook. I will also be able to go into the store and take face to face with a human if I have any issues! I am not happy with the AI revolution. I find some places you call don't even give you an option to speak to a person and for me AI is just frustrating to try to communicate with. Rava, glad your corned beef turned out so well. Did you neighbor give any feedback on it? Hope he liked it too!
Ginger, rattlesnakes?!! Definitely time to head north! I didn't think you were still using the 5th wheel. Hope you get that second AC functioning again!
We had some crazy wind here yesterday. Probably the system that affected you Mul. It was frightening!
Peachie, stick with us and definitely follow your instinct to get back to healthy eating. One of our former Cafe members, Paulywogg, was a good one to remind us to focus on healthy living more than sobriety. I found it very helpful. I don't know why, but for me the word sober has a tinge of judgement to it that I never really felt comfortable with.
Not today!
Dill

Wow that storm made it all the way to Alberta eh... I guess you're lucky you didn't get twisters as those are more common there I've heard.Originally posted by abcowboy View PostWe had those strong winds as well Mulburry, not quite as strong as you guys got but lots of trees uprooted, and many houses lost shingles..
Luckily the day I travelled the winds had died down a bit (they were the worst overnight). The trip back actually wasn't too bad at all, just that the bus was delayed picking me up by a few hours because the highway it was coming from had been completely closed down (due to overturned semi trucks etc.).Were you travelling when the wind was that crazy?
I will thid the hard nope on snakes... though apparently we do have rattle snakes up here as well, you just hardly ever see them.

Rava, I'm the same with tile games. I play an online game called "Words with friends" . It's basically scrabble online and I never win but it's still a workout for my brain and I enjoy it. I'm usually good at crosswords so I thought that I'd be good at scrabble. Not!
Peachie, I hear you about not getting enough exercise and eating poorly. I need to get back into exercising and to practice better eating habits. When and if Spring ever gets here I plan to get outside more often and get back into some form of exercise.
Dill, I agree with you about AI. I also hate that instead of speaking to a real person, you get a list of options over the phone and none of them answer your question. It seems as though the world is becoming very impersonal, and I for one am not a fan. I feel bad for the older people that never learned about computers or cell phones and only know about doing things the old way.
Waves to Cowboy and Mul!
24 more please...

I play Wordle, Quordle, Octordle and sometimes Connections. I don't need any more online games!
Looking forward to another 24 hours of healthy living.

I don't get as much exercise in the winter Peachie even with the snow shoveling and it definitely affects my attitude and the way I feel. I really should start taking a daily walk at least.
I think I'll go to a Mac as well dill when my Acer Flip crashes. There seems to be much less issues with the Mac's. Bubba and I play Wordle and Canuckle (Canadian version of Wordle) every morning over breakfast.
I used to love doing crosswords Jude, or those "circle the word" puzzles.
I'm sure you'll get just as good at mahjong as your friend is Rava, just keep playing.
Waves to Ginger and Mulburry!
I got Bubba to lower my ears yesterday and of course the temp dropped to -23C (-10F) overnight! Will definitely be wearing some sort of hat if I go out today!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Evening everyone. Well I did myself proud today. Two walks and a healthy casserole with lots of veggies. I've been awake since 4.50am this morning. I got jolted awake by a noise and came out of bed to my living room and the TV was on!!! I knew I turned it off last night as I go through my routine, doors locked, cats in, lights out, water beside my bed, TV off. My remote is broken so I just run my fingers across the buttons on the TV and it turns off. Maybe I hit a timer or something. Weird. Anyway the cats jumped up too and demanded breakfast so I had a coffee and had an early morning walk. It was lovely. Better then sitting on my phone for hours!
Cowboy thanks for supper.
Jude hope spring is around the corner for you.
I only play Solitaire on my phone but I'm going to look up what you guys play.
Anyway I'm pretty tired now but let's all keep moving. It sure helps.
Night night

Good morning and great job Peachie on making your day a healthier and happier one! I started a new habit at 4 pm since that is my worst time of the day. I bought some loose tea, a little tea diffuser and a glass tea mug. Yesterday I brewed it and really liked it. I ended up putting it in a wine travel glass, added ice and took it to the pool. It really helped me get thru the evening. Tonight we are going to a dinner and I will be taking my travel mug with blueberry tea. I know it’s not much for me it’s big. I will keep my fingers crossed that this new habit will develop and help take the edge off. Dill I am glad you went with a MacBook. I am so Apple oriented and love that everything flows across apple products. Cowboy, i bet your new haircut looks fabulous!!! Thanks for the great breakfast! I am off to make deviled eggs for the dinner tonight. Hope everyone has a wonder and sober day! 24 more please and thank you. PS Hi to Jude, Ginger and Mul!!!

I forgot to check-in yesterday! We headed out for a hike super early to beat the heat and snakes. When we got back it slipped my mind! There were 4 snakes relocated out of our resort this past week! Sis and I spent another relaxing day at the pool. We play cards while we are up there. Great way to relax and stay cool after hiking.
Dill, sorry about your computer issues but it sounds like you've got a solid plan to replace it.
Rava, I love that you've created a new ritual with the tea. I hope it helps. I bet with enough time you'll really get the hang of mahjong!
We had two 5th wheels. The big one stays here on our lot year round and we sold our other one that we towed. We just rent places during the summer when we travel now.
ABC, you know I love me some pancakes! Yummo
I play connections and wordle most mornings after I check in here. It's a good way to wake up the old brain!
Mul, I'm glad you got home safe and sound. That kind of wind is so scary and dangerous.
Hi Jude, Hi Peachie!
Let's have another day of freedom!
