Evening Cafe. Oh Jude I so love my quiet time in the mornings, especially outdoors. The place I lived in before here was a lovely old leafy suburb and had a really lovely old wooden porch. That was so my happy place. I watched all the doggie walkers go down to the local park. I had a great old comfy couch and spent many an hour just enjoying the fresh air and morning birds and sunshine. I was on a website then that helped women recover from abusive, toxic relationships and had a lovely friend who was my "porch friend". I'll never forget her. Thank you for reminding me.

It's on again re Ben's Insurance claim It just breaks my heart. Emma has received correspondence re her claim. I've also been contacted to verify her information given to the Insurance Company. It's seriously like an interrogation. Not only do we have to cope with grief but go through this proving we are honest too. I guess they have to weed out the players but seriously, for honest people, it is painful. They just seem so cold hearted and reluctant to give out any money which, in reality, is not theirs. God I hate big Corporations who are ripping us off and are corrupt as anything.

Sorry for venting but had to get it off my chest. Of course the wine is going down a lot quicker then normal! I used to be able to cope a lot better but living alone is doing my head in sometimes.

Have a great day everybody. Dill, go the Dockers tomorrow!!

Peachie, I'm so sorry you have to go through that on top of the grief. I'm 100 percent with you about big corporations. Greed...the money is never enough for them.

Jude, enjoy your porch time. I've been getting up at 4a lately. It's mostly Cyrus being ready to eat. Little turd. But I've found that I truly enjoy it. It's quiet and hubby isn't up so the TV is off! Remind me, when is the construction starting?

Rava, I had to chuckle at your crab story. I'm glad it was a success and there was no turtle soup.

ABC, I bet you'll pickup more jobs whether you like it or not. I could keep you busy around here for a month!

Hey Dill! Is it still quiet in your neck of the woods?

We have a growing fire about 3 miles from our place. I can see they've closed Interstate 82 for semi trucks but it looks like they are letting cars double back. These hills are nothing but dry cheat grass and sage brush now so tons of fuel. Praying for the fire fighters.

      I'll take another day!

Oh my goodness, Rava! I loved your story about your math and being confused when you came up one short! That sounds exactly like something that I would do! Glad you had one you could split with your granddaughter. "All's well that ends well!"

GO DOCKERS! Peachie, I'll be wearing the purple! If I can't find anything purple, I'll think purple thoughts... . We have a tentative plan to go to a U-pick Lavander Farm tomorrow. The farm has a big purple barn. It'll remind me to cheer on the team.

Ginger, life continues to be low key here. I love it that way! We had to ferry our granddaughter to her game last evening and they won. That was enough for me. She got on base on a Walk, but it turned into a run to home base in the end. We were very pleased for her...using her judgement not to swing at just anything. Small things make big differences sometimes.

Jude, I will gladly join you in a day of serenity.

Cowboy, we haven't heard anything about Adam's cabin. Is he making progress with it?

It's such a beautiful morning here it's hard not to feel grateful and happy. I'll ride the wave.
        Dill

Good to see you Techie! Hope that you are staying healthy, and it sounds as though you are keeping busy. Stop by more often as we love hearing about your adventures.

Ginger, the builders should be here in the next week or so and I can't wait for this whole ordeal to be over. We had to move everything off the porch so that we could tear it down, and now I have lots of clutter in the house and it's driving me nuts!

Cowboy, the porch that I use to sit and drink my coffee is screened in on 3 sides and has a metal roof over it. The new addition will be totally enclosed and insulated. Half of it will be used for a utility room and the rest will be a bedroom and a bathroom. Can't wait!

Peachie, I'm sorry that you are still dealing with the insurance company. I don't understand why they would be giving you such a hard time especially when you're still grieving.

Rava, that's too funny about your confusion as to why you were short one crab for dinner. I call them senior moments or brain farts, and I have them all the time!

            Waves to Dill and Mul!

            Not today...

Evening Cafe. Lovely to see you Techie. I'm getting in early as bounce down for the Dockers is in approx 30 mins. Very nervous!!

Rava , my husband and I used to go crabbing with my mum and dad. Dad had a little run about boat. The problem was because mum and I saw them caught alive we couldn't bring ourselves to eat them. Lol. Mike and Dad had a good feast and Mum and I were made fun of. Great times away down south with my parents before kiddies came along.
They had a caravan which was my Mums pride and joy.

Dill, congrats to your granddaughter on her home base. I will keep you posted on the Dockers game thru your morning. I think going to the Lavendar farm will bring them luck.

Sorry, can't concentrate so will check in later! Got to get some snacks ready!!

Great to see you, Techie! Good to know you are well and busy.

Good morning Cafe. Just a quick check in before heading to Zumba class. I just started a new book and it’s been so good. I love a book that you dont want to end. It’s called The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett (she also wrote The Help). I got up at 4:30 am to read some this morning. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. PS. Hi to Techie. Thanks for checking in! 24 more please.

Geez, that's too bad about the insurance company Peachie, I've always had luck when dealing with them but only ever dealt with them over life insurance when my dad passed away. Hope the Dockers win!

Have fun at zumba Rava, is it a popular class?

Always great to see you techie, stop by more often if you're able to.

I'll bet you'll be glad when construction starts Jude, it sounds more like an addition rather than a porch lol. Is it going to be a full bath off the bedroom or just an ensuite, or a bathroom to be used as a main bath?

Sure hope that fire stays well away from you Ginger, with all the rain we've been getting there's no worry of wildfires around here so far this year. I imagine I'll get a bit more work this summer, but I'm very selective now on the work I take on.

Funny you should ask about the cabin dill, we were just talking about it this past weekend when all the kids were home. He's still waiting for the drywaller to show up and finish before we can do any work inside, but we'll be headed up probably next weekend to finish up the water lines and air ducts in the crawlspace, then it will be a waiting game for anymore inside work. Sounds like your granddaughter has a good eye for the game, glad she's enjoying it.

A small job to do this morning checking out some water issues with one of the neighbors out by the farm, then I'll go over to our place and hook on to the flatdeck trailer and bring it back to Vegreville with me. I need it tomorrow when I go to the city tomorrow to pick up material for the heating job I'm doing in a new big farm shop.

Whoot whoot! Dockers did it! I hope I'm reading that right, Peachie.

ABC, I think it's so great you keep busy with those odd jobs. You're really doing your body a favor.

Rava have fun a zoomba. You're doing your body good too.

Dill, sounds like your gdaughter has a knack for the game. Good for her. She's so lucky to have you guys. I can totally relate to enjoying "low key". I get more and more like that as time goes by. Now, if I could just get hubby to turn off that darn TV once in awhile!

Jude, be careful with that finger around the cats. Sorry, that's my mama bear coming out. I know, you know to do that.

Techie, so great to hear from you. I miss your stories too. Check in longer, if you ever have time.

Not much on my agenda today. All I know for sure is there will be know drinking!
