It is warm & sunny today in Florida! Just lovely!

I agree, Rava: if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. My doctor makes me jump through more hoops though to get the AD: have to see her twice a year to discuss my depression, do blood tests; and only get renewed for 90 days of meds at a time. Plus she wouldn’t help me taper off by getting me liquid Lexapro. Sick of being controlled. So we’ll see.

Jude, do you work doing home health? Congratulations on your decision to retire! At least the door is still open if you change your mind.

    Hello to empyr3al !

Off to Disney Springs soon. I hope my condition (the knee pain and the severe PN) will allow me to walk enough and be somewhat normal.
And -no drinking for me today!

Slo, I was a veterinary technician for over 25 years, then I worked for an ophthalmologist as an assistant. I officially retired when I was 62, but I got bored and started looking for a part time job. I began working for a company that offers in home care for people with dementia or Alzheimer's. It's a difficult job at times and I'm getting pretty burned out, hence the decision to leave. As dill mentioned, I can always do volunteer work if I get bored.

Ginger, sorry that your sister has to go home, but it sounds like you two had a great time!

I went to Mexico once several years ago and parts of it are beautiful. One day we were out driving and got lost. We ended up driving through one of the many poverty stricken villages. I don't know which was skinnier, the kids or the dogs. They lived in broken down shacks and their clothes were in tatters. It made me very grateful for everything that I have.

I'm in for another 24 hours of serenity...

Slo, It sounds like you ae having a wonderful time in Florida. Enjoy that warm sunshine!

Jude, I didn't know you were once a vet tech. Or perhaps I knew at one time but had forgotten. Then the Ophthalmologist. You put a lot of years into care. It's time for you to enjoy some rest. You deserve it!

I have never been to Mexico, and I have never had a desire to go there. However, I have been to Canada. We've been to the Canadian side of the Niagra Falls, and we've been to Nova Scotia. Mr. D has been to Banff at a work conference. We both loved visiting Canada. Our trip to Nova Scotia was lovely. It was the first time I ever at at a Tim Hortons. I was really happy when they expanded into the US. Best coffee ever!

24 for all of us here please and thank you.

        Dill

Your sister was there for a good long visit Ginger, I'm sure she'll miss you just as much.

Enjoy all that sun and warm weather Slo, wish I could say we're enjoying the same lol.

I love Tim Horton's coffee as well dill, but McCafe comes in a close second. I was just at Tim Horton's yesterday and picked up an extra large black dark roast and 1/2 dozen of their blueberry fritters lol.

Can't believe it's already February, winter will slowly start coming to a close, but not before I get a bit more exercise with the shovel and then more frigid temps.

Waving to the rest of the gang!

This is exactly my sentiment too, I hate be tethered to a substance especially something that could have such extreme negative effects if you don't have it. And I hate unecessary doctors appointments too!

We only got about 5" of snow yesterday Rava and the temp is still right around freezing so it wasn't to bad to deal with. More snow on the way today though and now the temps start to fall.
We got our first real snowfall of the year today, still only a couple inches though. We're supposed to get more tomorrow though, and then we'll get the arctic air here too, though I imagine it won't get nearly as cold here (maybe -10C) as it will in Alberta.

You’re having quite the cold, snowy weather, Cowboy! Good for shoveling exercise anyways, as you say. I have never been to Canada, but I think I would really like it there. Have been to Mexico a few times. The “poor” areas there have been shocking to see, especially the housing.

Glad you had a decent amount of sister time, Ginger!

My friend said Kendra Scott store gives you a 50% off necklace during your birthday month, so I got a necklace that I really like (despite not being much into jewelry) on Jan. 31st. And, the restaurant we went to there in Disney Springs actually had de-alcoholized wine! (unheard of at most restaurants), so I got to have wine for happy hour. They only had it for “Dry January” -so two treats that day related to it still being January!

And now onto February. The first of which was an AF day for me.

Good morning cafe! It's mighty chilly out there with a temperature of zero, but thankfully there is no wind. It's been several years since we've had this much snow and colder temperatures. The skiers are loving it, but I am ready for Spring.

I've been to Canada several times and it is beautiful. The border is only about an hour and a half away from me so distance isn't a problem. I would love to go to Nova Scotia someday as I hear that it's gorgeous.

We've been having such a crazy winter this year weatherwise! We're under an extreme cold warning for the next couple of days but at least there isn't supposed to be any snow to shovel lol

Have a peaceful easy Sunday everyone!

It's 27F here and cloudy. Not much chance the groundhog is going to see his shadow! Fingers crossed for an early Spring.

Ginger, I'm glad your sister was able to stick around in spite of her early feelings of homesickness. It sounds like you two had a great time together.

Hey Rava, do you still have the rabbit problems? I noticed here in our yard during all that snow that there were loads and loads of rabbit tracks all over the place! I had no idea.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
