Good morning Cafe. I just realized I forgot to post yesterday. Jude, I hope today brings you more joy and that you are ok. This morning I woke up feeling remorse and shame until my brain kicked in and reminded me that I had NOT had a night of booze. I immediately felt relived and so much better. If that isn’t telling how much better you feel without booze. Jeeze, not drinking obviously makes me happier. Ginger, I like your elephant and monkey. You are very talented. We are having a heat wave here much like a summer in Florida weather. It was 86 last night when I went to bed. UGH. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. 24 more for me please and thank you.

Ginger, that monkey head is precious! What a wonderful gift!
Mul and Ginger, I would love to visit the great northwest. You are both so lucky to live there. Closest I ever got to seeing it was a family trip we took in the 90's when we flew out to California. We stayed in San Diego and made our way northward ending the trip at Yosemite. It was a wonderful trip. Universal Studios, Cannery Row, driving up the coastal highway, San Franciso, street cars, Alcatraz,...such great memories! But camping in Yosemite was the best part to me.
Another hot one today. 24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Dill

Cross post, Rava. I hear you about the drinking dream. What a nightmare, actually. The relief you felt must have been a real relief!Last edited by dill; June 24, 2025, 06:03 AM.Dill

Good morning cafe!
Cowboy, my dog had been having quite a lot of trouble getting around and one day she couldn't get up at all. She also had other issues, which is no surprise considering she was fourteen years old. It was the same thing with the other dog that we had to put down, he was fourteen as well. I have one dog left, and he's also having problems getting around. He is my favorite and follows me all over the house, but I know that he doesn't have much time left, so I try to spend as much time as possible with him. Sometimes it's just overwhelming...
Twenty four more please...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

That's too bad about your dog Jude, but old age is a good reason if any, he/she had a long happy life anyway.
The monkey is adorable as well Ginger, how long does it take to make those? I'm getting used to my new teeth quite well. There is still a bit of discomfort if I bite down hard on something on the left side, but the dentist told me that it could take up to 3 months for the gums to heal completely. Haven't noticed any lack of taste yet, maybe because they're not full dentures?
Some of you are experiencing heat waves and we had frost overnight! Not a hard frost but there's white patches on some of the neighbor's roofs this morning. I don't think Bubba's flowers will be affected as most of them are close to the house and somewhat protected.
Waves to the rest of the gang!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

I got cold feet and backed out on Sunday on buying my dream condo. It is listed now, and will be open for showings this weekend. And now I am so mad at myself! It was mine! But she won’t allow a contingency on selling my current place, nor a delay in the closing. I was already going to be taking a large loss, and it would’ve easily doubled as the sale of my current one languished and took price cuts. So I’m doing the right thing financially, but not for my heart!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I’m up at D1’s house. I just love being with these grandchildren! It is such a comfort, and they like it too at these young ages.
Jude, such a bummer that your dogs are all reaching the end of their life spans at the exact same time. So painful & overwhelming for you to absorb so many losses at once.
Your DIL sounds amazing, Ginger! I really like the monkey that you made. I thought your son already found a place in Costa Rica?
I’m glad that your partials are doing pretty well, Cowboy.
Waves to all!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Slo, that place turned out to have some boundary issues that were concerning so they pulled out. It's very different buying out of country in CR. You have to do your own due diligence and there's no protection for the buyer so they'll keep looking. They've learned a lot! I hope your condo sells soon!
ABC, I guess I thought you had a full set of dentures. I'm glad it's not affecting your taste. That's what I hear is a big complaint with a full set. That's why permanent implant dentures are the best. Of course, a person has to sell a kidney to afford them!
Jude, I know it's soon, but I hope you are planning on getting another pup. Just think of all the joy a new pup would bring you! You guys are such great pet parents! I miss having a dog but hubby is adamant we aren't getting another one. Cyrus has to be an only "cat".
Those heads took me 4-6 hours. The monkey was way easier than the elephant. I'm glad they are done!
Rava, i hate waking up like that. I woke up with a mean headache and thought....I used to do these to myself all the time. So stupid!!
Hey, Mul, any adventures on your horizon?
Pool party was a success and all the littles were exhausted! What a fun place to entertain them! I'll take another day of freedom!

Hi folks. Morer about ayahuasca and Costa Rica tomorrow. Switzerland. I had a resurgence of cancer. There is a particular immunotherapy that is available there and not available in the US or Can. It was a trial that a Stanford MD friend of Mrs. Techie got me accepted into. After consulting with the trial specialist in Lucerne, we decided to go for the 10 week treatment. It made sense as we had been planning on visiting my daughter in Stockholm anyway. Things worked out well as all my cancer markers are good and there is no evidence of disease. We have both become dedicated to health and fitness even more so than when I did Tri's. BTW, I had forgotten how wonderful it is to be able to drink water from any sink, spout, or open fountain in all the towns we visited., It was truly a healing journey for the both of us.
More to follow re: Stockholm and my daughter...

Good morning all!
Ginger, I still have one dog, and he is ancient. When he goes we aren't going to get another one. The rising cost of veterinary care and the fact that we are unable to go on vacation together, has led us to make that decision. There is always foster care if we really miss having some canine companionship.
Well, I blew it yesterday and drank, so I'm having a good case of GSR's this morning. Depression and grief caused me to look for anyway to relieve the pain. Unfortunately, I didn't find that at the bottom of the bottle, just more sadness and a hangover. I know that I have to keep moving forward and forgive myself.
Techie, I'm so glad that you are cancer free, and hopefully it won't come back.
Waves to everyone!
I'm definitely in for another twenty four hours...

Good morning Cafe. Techie, so glad you are doing better. Sorry you had to go thru all that treatment. Cancer sucks!! Yes drinking from sinks, spouts, etc is nice. My grandkids cant believe I drink “sink water” Cracks me up. They all carry water bottles like they will dry up and vanish into thin air without them. My oh my how times have changed. Cowboy glad those choppers are doing well and hopefully that pain when you bite down will get better in time. Slo, I think backing out was the right thing to do. It was already making you nervous about the cost and you may have been in over your head and that would have been worse. At least you know what you like and you can keep looking for something that you like and can afford with no stress. I check the real estate ads daily and I am not even moving. It’s just a hobby and a habit I have developed over the years. Jude, I get it about the dogs and not wanting another after your last one goes. I miss my dog but don’t think i am able to commit to 15 years. My time is running out. It was 106 here yesterday and today is much the same. Another day to sit in the AC. Well I hope everyone has a great and sober day. Hi to Ginger, Mul, Dill. 24 more please and thank you.

Good morning everyone. Talk of tap water brought back a long, long ago memory from my tap water drinking childhood. A dear Aunt of mine told me one care-free sunny, summer morning that there would be a time in the future when people would buy drinking water rather than use what came from the tap. I was stunned at the thought. My child mind couldn't fathom it. This was in the '60s. I still drink tap water, but have to admit that we do have an under-sink filter.
Wonderful news about your good health, Techie. I'm so happy for you!
Jude. ((HUG))
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Dill
