We did as well...... though not without temptation. Our friend had brought over some egg liquer and my brother had bought a small bottle of champagne and bottle of alcohol free wine. I ended up adding a small splash of the egg liquer to my coffee for flavoring, and to drink with dinner I made myself a spritzer with the alcohol free wine, cranberry juice and a dollup of champagne (very tasty). I know some people would consider this drinking, but for me, if I'm doing it purely for taste without getting any sort of effect / intoxication I don't consider it as such. I realize that it gets into the territory of a fine line or a slippery slope so to speak, but I was always the kind of person that didn't think drinking was worthwhile unless you got a proper buzz (3-4 beers and a couple shots of whiskey was a light drinking night for me), so the line to me seems pretty clear. You might say this is dangerous, that I'm dancing with the devil, and maybe I am, I don't know. But it also might show how far I've come that I can handle some tiny amounts like this purely for taste, that I can go right to the edge without going over; maybe it's the ultimate test in a way (because I'm not gonna lie, of course there was a part of me that still wanted to grab that bottle and chug, but not giving in to that impulse in the end is the key).
