Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Good morning Cafe. Jude, I am betting over time you will love your job and I am betting you get another pet out of it. You are helping those animals each time you donate your time. Ginger, I am betting seeing your SIL like that makes you even happier that you dont drink. I bet she felt terrible the next day. If someone did an intervention on me I would be so angry. I doubt it would have worked. I beat myself up enough without others adding to that feeling. I think quitting occurs when we are sick of ourselves. We do it for us. I dont think I could have quit for everyone else because when all is said and done, we are our own keeper. Slo, hope you had a nice dinner with D#4. Today involves packing for our trip out west to visit our grands. 24 more please and thank you!

The Reunion went incredibly well! It was a lot of work and chaos at times, but it was worth every bit of it. Everyone had a wonderful time and expressed their appreciation for us hosting the first ever reunion. I could see the connections formed years ago in childhood and young adulthood coming back to life as they found each other and re-hashed long ago memories. I'm so pleased with how everything turned out.
Alcohol was present but was not a major part, thankfully. Nobody went over the line and got stupid or outrageous. One person was definitely drinking a lot, a BIL, but he is a confirmed alcoholic. I believe it's taking a toll on his relationship with his long-time gf, but that is for them to deal with, sadly. I like her a lot but I think she is hanging on by a thread.
Most importantly my daughter finally got a chance to introduce her second husband and her stepchildren to her extended family members, and they became an official part of the gang.
Some people brought wine coolers and beers and put them on ice to share. Now I have a lot of that stuff here and I have to get rid of it before I succumb to its siren call. I'm going to see if I can off-load it to someone who appreciates it but if I don't find anyone, I'll just have to pour it out.
It would have been much easier to have rented a hall and perhaps had it catered, but I really wanted to have it at our home so the young ones could get out and explore the woods and everyone could get a homey feeling similar to how things were for many of us growing up. Mission accomplished.
Jude, so happy you liked your first day volunteering. Sounds like a good fit for you!
Ginger, I think interventions probably work for some and are worth a try but obviously must be handled with incredible sensitivity. I've had no personal experiences with interventions.
Waves to Mul, Slo, Rava and Cowboy.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Are there still a few people around today dill, or did they all leave yesterday? You'll have to fill us in on how it all went.
Have you been using the knee scooter Slo? Glad to hear you're able to get out and about to do some visiting.
Sounds like the volunteering job is going to work out well for you Jude once you get familiar with your duties. Probably a good idea to leave the cats where they are though lol.
When do you start your diamond art classes Rava?
I'm not sure an intervention will help either Ginger, but you never know. It's sad to see what alcohol does to people and their loved ones especially when they are family.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. I personally feel the same way about interventions. I think it would make me feel worse and drink more. Who knows! I asked her daughter how she felt yesterday and she said she acted like nothing ever happened. I'd have been sicker than a dog! Her tolerance is off the charts.
Jude, so glad you enjoyed your day. You'll be in the clinic before you know it and probably have a new kitty too.
Hi all! I'll take another

Good morning cafe!
Dill, so glad that the reunion went well and that everyone had a good time. It must have been a lot of work but I bet that it was well worth it!
I have an early morning doctors appointment and lots of errands to do today but that's okay. It helps me stay away from the booze if I don't have time to think about it.
Twenty four more please...

Great to hear that the reunion turned out so well dill. I'll bet you're more than happy at how it turned out.
I'm not sure why your post was flagged Slo, I think that's the first time I've ever heard that happen.

Slo, I have no idea what caused your post to be flagged. It seemed fine to me.
Things are slowly getting back to normal around here. My cleaner comes on Wednesday and that will help a great deal! I'm slowly putting things back where they belong in the meantime.

Good morning Cafe. Dill so good to hear that your reunion went so well. Lots of new and old memories for sure! Ginger, that person that was not hungover either had a super high tolerance, they were faking feeling good or too young to be too sick. I do NOT miss that feeling whatsoever. Feeling sick is bad enough but adding shame, remorse and guilt makes it a really, really dark experience. I am so glad that is not us! Cowboy, Diamond paint class is just one class in mid August when I get back from visiting out west. Hope everyone has a great day. We are heading to a hotel to spend the night before our early morning flight tomorrow. Cleaning the refrigerator out and loading up the car to leave around noon. Wishing everyone a great and sober day! 24 more please and thank you.
