Slo, would it be impossible for you to live near your daughter? I know you have that condo but it doesn't bring you joy. Does it make sense at our ages to deny ourselves what brings us joy? I think not

Waves to all! I'll take another day

4:58am in Alberta, 24 more for me please, and thanks...

In the last 24 hours, these friends have joined in for 24 hours of wellness:

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Wow! I just read my post from yesterday and I apparently thought that it was Sunday. I slept in again today and it's so refreshing!

Mr. J's sister is not doing well and is in the hospital under comfort care. The cancer has spread to her kidneys, spleen and liver. Cancer really sucks!

I'm in for another 24 hours of freedom...

Hmmm, I wonder if you call it sleeping in once your retired Jude, or just slept a bit longer than usual lol

Not much new here, still moving along pretty steadily without and major issues, but we could sure use some rain!

Good morning Cafe. Jude I am very sorry for your SIL. Cancer does suck!! I am here today after screwing up yesterday and drinking. Woke up sweating, guilty and all the awful feelings that go with being hungover and sick. It’s my own damned fault. I know what to do and I will do it. No trigger except a pool party with neighbors. It was available and I said why not. And I kept saying why not. I am just not wired like a normal person. I know better. Today will be a good day with no drinking. UGH….. Thanks for listening. 24 hours please!

Cross post Jude, that's terrible news about your sister-in-law, I'll send some prayer their way...

Jude, when I read your post yesterday, I wondered if you were off by a day because you slept in and it somehow disoriented you! LOL I didn't sleep in this morning, but I did just stay in bed and rested. It's a dreary, rainy morning so there was no need to get out of bed in a hurry. So sorry to hear about Mr. J's sister. I agree wholeheartedly: cancer sucks.

I'll join you in 24 hours of freedom.

Cross post, Rava and Cowboy! Wish I could send you some of our rain, Cowboy.

Today is my 11th anniversary with MWO! It's certainly not been with out slips but I'm still here trying and so are you, RavaJust think where we'd be if we hadn't been trying all these years. I shudder to think!

Jude, I'm so so so sorry about your sil. I hope the comfort care helps her transition be comfortable. I'll pray for that.

Took the greats to my friends house to bottle feed the 2 wk old baby goats. I WANT ONE! Well, not really. It was precious though.

Waves all! Busy day..... I'll take another day of freedom!

You had leftovers of Cowboy’s breakfast, Jude!

You are a rube, Dill, because you live in the country. But I agree with Jude: you’re not a curmudgeon!

Cancer is just the worst. I’m sorry that you’re SIL is coming to her end, Jude.

Rava, is your husband tolerant of your slips with alcohol?

I live near a different daughter, Ginger. I went over there this morning after I had bloodwork and was driving by. Read stories to Huxley, and sat outside with them in their beautiful yard. Bliss!

It’s hard to take care of a place when you’re as impaired as I currently am. Maybe a small apartment would be better for me. But I’m too sick & weak to move.

                        24 more hours AF!

Good morning Cafe. Today is a much better morning than yesterday. Slo, you asked if Mr R was tolerant with my slip. He is very supportive and knows that I am harder on my self than any else could be. Ginger you are right about where we would be if we had not been part of this group and working on sobriety. Probably with liver disease by now or dead. I am grateful for this group. I said to myself why not and proceeded to drink like I had never stopped. So my tolerance is quite low. That is a good thing tho I guess. If anyone can recommend a good book let me know. I think I may have read all the self help ones but you never know. Hello to Jude, Dill, Cowboy and Mul too. Thanks for your support!

Good morning all! Thanks for your kind words about my sil. They are releasing her from the hospital today and she will be going home under hospice care. It's just so sad that after 6 months of debilitating chemotherapy, the end result is still the same. It just sucks all around.

Rava, back on the horse! The danger of a slip is that it can turn into a full blown relapse. Hopefully, things will be easier for you after moving north for the summer. There seems to be less temptation to drink when you're living there.

Cowboy, I'll send you all the rain you need as we're getting buckets of it.

Ginger, congrats on your 11th year on MWO!

                              24 more please...

We're all here for the same reason and we've become such good friends over the years. Strength in numbers they say and it always helps to have support from people who know what it's like.
