Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Glad you're home safe and sound Rava!
Corey is a great guy dill, actually all the neighbors out around the farm are great, we always are looking out for each other and pitch in to help whenever it's needed.
The plan was to build a new house out on the farm Ginger, we picked out the plans and even had the build site all staked out and were starting to get prices from the lumber yard and some sub-contractors. Then Bubba's parents started having health issues and that ended the retiring to the farm.
We spent the evening the same as you Jude, minus the cat in the lap haha.
Let's all make this new year the best one ever!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Happiest of New Years to all my friends here in the Cafe! Sure wish QW, Techie and Slo would stop by.
We played cards and had a spread of food with two other couples around 2p. Home by 530. No booze in sight. The pack of coyotes that live on the other side of the fence in the desert stopped by to say hi. They are beautiful creatures. They serenade us every night.
I'm starting to feel like my old self. It's been awhile since I've had the itch to explore because of my old knee. I'm starting to feel like this new knee might just spark my wanderlust up again. I sure hope so, I've missed it!
Rava, glad you're home safe and sound! Hopefully, you came home without any germs from the plane ride.
Jude, I'm impressed! If I were to try and knit while watching TV, I'd have a mess. Crochet, sure. Knit, no way! You must be very good!
Dill, your evening sounds perfect to me. I was right there with you!
Hi, ABC! I'll take another day of freedom.

Late check in for me. Happy New Year to my friends in the Cafe. Sounds like everyone has a good New Years Eve. We went to bed early too. No need to see that ball drop. It’s really cold here in Florida. Hopefully for a few more days only. At least the sun is shining. Mr R and I got new phones so we are trying to learn them. Hope everyone has a great day. 24 more please and thank you!

Cowboy, it's great that you have such wonderful neighbors and it's the same where I live. It's nice to be able to depend on them whenever we need help and we do the same for them. That's too bad about your plans to build a house on the farm being put on hold, but I guess that family should come first.
Ginger, the knitting pattern that I'm using is a pretty simple one, knit one row then purl the next. If I was working on a complicated pattern there is no way that I could watch tv while knitting. So glad that you're feeling optimistic about the future with your new knee. I'm sure that you won't regret having it done when you're hiking along your favorite trail.
Rava, I was right there with you NOT watching the ball drop. Mr. J stayed up to see it, but said that it really wasn't worth watching.
Hey dill and Mul!
24 more please...

Greetings everyone! It's pretty cold here this morning, but we are supposed to warm up to above freezing later today! That's going to be a very nice change of pace! It's funny how "warm" that can feel after a long time in the deep freeze.
Not really much happening around here. I am going to see if the local college is open yet. They allow community folk to use their Athletic Center for a small fee. I used to go regularly in the winter but let that go. I am going to get back in the habit. One reason being that I just had a Bone Density Screening test and results indicate a significant drop in density. Yikes! I think it's maybe because I haven't kept up my weight bearing exercise. I'm sure I'll be hearing from my doc about it. This worries me because of my friend's recent fall and hip break. I sure don't want to go down that road! Anyway, I do recommend everyone here keep tabs on their bone health.
Ginger, I am delighted to hear you talk so hopefully about your future wanderings!!!
Rava, I feel for you Learning a new phone is intense! Mr. D just got a new phone and I am dreading having to do it. But my phone is very old and I know time is not on my side.
Jude, I wish I could see your current project. I can imagine it pretty well though. What color and what size needles are you using?
Cowboy, I remember when you and Bubba were so close to building your new home and instead had to alter your plans. I remember it well. You made a difficult choice, but it was what we do. "The things we do for love."
Hi Mul!
Not today.

You're starting to sound like the Ginger we know so well, anxious to get out and explore as often as you can!
You're right Jude, it's great to have such nice neighbors both in town and in the country. It's the way it should be anywhere.
Is there a lot of differences in your new phones Rava? Bubba and I are thinking of upgrading to the new iPhone 17 Pro but our old phones are still working well so we're not sure if we should take the plunge or wait till we're forced to upgrade.
Is there anything that can be done when the bone density drops dill? It seems broken bones happen much more as we get older and so many seniors never fully recover from them.
Cooler here and a bit of snow overnight but I think that the leaf blower and electric shovel should handle it easy enough.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Dill, my bone density has dropped 10% in the past two years. I know it's because my knee has made me more sedentary. My doc immediately wanted me to start fosamax. I did some research and that's not going to happen! Once I can get back to walking, I'm hoping it improves. Fosamax builds bone but it's brittle bone. Please look into the drugs closely, if your doc wants you to start it. It's not the magic bullet they say it is.
ABC, I remember the story now about the house and Bubba's parent's situation. Some day maybe?
Rava, we are experiencing colder than normal weather too. I don't mind it too much as long as it doesn't stick around long!
Jude, I'm not sure I could even do that much without dropping stitches! I'd love to see the blanket when it's finished.
Hi, Mul!
It's a great day to have a great day! No AL today

Dill, I'm using a size 10 circular needle and am using various colors in a stripe pattern. Hopefully, I won't make too many mistakes as it's a gift for my sister.
I have osteoporosis as well and have injections every 6 months. My last bone scan showed improvement and I have had no side effects. I tried fosamax in the past and every time I took it I was sicker than a dog. No thanks!
Hope that everyone has a fantastic booze free day!

Good morning Cafe. All this bone loss talk. Yikes. I have to remember to do more weight bearing exercises added to my walking. I started a virtual challenge online of walking thru Hawaii. Sounds crazy but I walk and then after the day I can follow my walking thru Hawaii by actually seeing the route virtually. Seems like a fun way to stay in shape. I will let you know. Mr R and I got IPhone 17 pro phones. Our old iPhones were 12s and overheating and battery life shortened. So the upgrade was needed. We also got new iPads along with the new phones from Verizon. No extra cost other than taxes and activation fees which we are gonna try to get waived for being long term customers. The camera on the IPhone 17 pro is really really good. Hope you keep improving Ginger, I am sure you will be out and about in no time. Jude, good luck with your knitting. I am sure it’s very relaxing for you. Hi to Dill and Cowboy. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please and thank you. Adding a random alligator and turtle with new IPhone 17 pro camera. They were quite far away yet you really cant tell by these pictures.

From the looks of the quality of the pics Rava the 17 Pro is the way to go. I'm going to have to look up this virtual walking thing, sounds interesting to me.
You have me confused Jude, not that I know much about knitting but if you use a circular needle wouldn't you end up with a tube shape rather than a blanket?
I don't see us ever building out at the farm now Ginger, we'll probably just stay in Veg since we're pretty much settled in here.
I'm still holding out for some warm temperatures dill so that I can get the garage doors changed but it's not looking good so far lol.

Wow, Rava, those pics are great! You'll enjoy those phones and iPad!
ABC, thanks for explaining the property situation. It's still a great way to diversify assets even if you don't build on it.
Jude, that sounds lovely. Cant wait to see the finished product!
Dill, the local college gym is a great resource for you. I hope it works out for you!
I'm hoping to go back to working out Monday, fingers crossed!
Hi, Mul. Hope all is well with you! I'll take another day of freedom!

Rava, those pictures are stunning! Good job on your new phone pick and your dedication to learning how to use it. The walking challenge will be perfect for your goal to include weight-bearing exercise. Like you, I had assumed that weight-bearing exercise must involve lifting weights or using weights in exercises. But as it turns out, weight-bearing exercise is just basically getting up and moving! Walking, dancing, playing pickleball....anything that involves being on your feet. It's your own weight you'll be bearing! LOL
Cowboy, yes, you can actually improve bone density to some extent. So that's the good news. I have been very sedentary these past few years because Mr. D was my main walking buddy, but his knee problems kept him from being able to enjoy walking anymore. He still has major knee issues so he is going to get more exercise but will have to modify what he does which means he'll probably have to use exercise equipment or something. But I am going to start doing a regular walking regimen again and hope that helps. Diet and supplements can also help.
Ginger, it is amazing how much bone density you lost because of your knee! I don't blame you for being leery of Fosamax. I didn't like the sound of it either when I read about it a few years back. I didn't have a problem then so I didn't need to decide one way or the other.
Jude, I'm glad you have had some success with a pharmaceutical. I haven't talked with my doc yet, but the test results I read said that I am at the point where a pharmaceutical could be tried. Would you mind telling me the name of the one you have had good luck with so that I can bring it into any discussion I might have with her and get her opinion? I made a blanket once with circular needles but I did something wrong somewhere along the line and my blanket turned out distorted. It looked more like a hammock than a blanket. Nothing I did could get it to lie flat. I never tried again after that and just made my blankets with crochet.
I bet I could look up a tutorial on using circular needles on youtube. I might do that just for the fun of it.
Oh Geez! I have gone on way too long! Sorry.
Hi Mul! Hope all is well with you.
