Mers. The idea of slow cookers & AirFryers etc is to save on electricity. The cooker uses huge amount of power in comparison apparently.
I've started using my slow cooker again - it's brilliant for stews, curries etc. I'm sure there is much more I could be using it for.

Also the Airfryer is only used for Chips or Irish Brekkie when someone stays over . Must look into that more too. My sister makes toasted sandwiches with it.

Saw a programme about that online gang 'Shein' and how they can sell clothes so cheaply.
It's shocking. The Chinese factory workers earn a pittance. They work from 8am to 2/3 in the morning to finish the orders. Up to 400 garments each a day. 7 days a week. One day a month off. While the owners are worth BILLIONS.
Apparently it costs so little to make the clothes it's cheaper to give you a refund than to process a return because anything returned is just dumped & ends up in landfill.
So best to leave the rubbish with you.
Penneys is the same.
Personally I think the clothes are shite and so cheap and tarty looking. But then they are not targeting me ...... it's the young ones they want.
Still morally wrong.

I think it's the speed of it..we had one in the canteen at work and lunch was only 45 mins...the porter used to make himself proper meals in it in no time...but yeah...get your oven moving I'd say...of course when we all start getting mad electricity and gas bills the economics will maybe come into it too...airfrying and slow cookers the way to go apparently.

So sad about that poor girl. Its a very troubled age isn't it?! I remember being extraordinarily vulnerable at that age...so sad for her and her family.

Windy here this morning think I might just tuck in today...it is/was weird having a cold...nothing for last 3 years!!!

Morning

Not sure of the symptoms either Molly but hot drinks and plenty of rest. Crown is out on Netflix today too. I’ve started watching I’m a celebrity on player. Have not watched it in years but know a few of the people on it this year. That’s good value in Aldi. Think I got mine in Woodies but it’s a single one and was only around €60. Perfect for the two of us.

Good on your MIL JC. I admire her for taking control. Would hate that part of growing old, being dependent on other people.

Off to pick up lamps and a picture I ordered online. Hope I like them.

Thanks Rustop, ill follow your woman. Yourself and Molly have me 85% there, i love gadgets.

satz123, I completely agree with the airfryer ladies. Do you want that role or just to be acknowledged/given the option? Would you have a word with them, get it off your chest, nothing aggressive, your just wondering about other opportunities and why you were passed over for this one. Its a reasonable question. Email, then print it out, show them how efficient you are :haha:
Morning! Personally I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of knowing I might have wanted the job..but that's just me!
Articles all over social media bout the great value airfryer coming to Aldi on Sunday so guessing I won't manage to get one anyway! It's a double one for 99 euro...Joey paid 220 for similar a year ago!

Woke up with shocking headache and sore throat...don't even know covid symptoms anymore ( lost interest) but I'm guessing it's a head cold
Staying in bed for another hour anyway.

She wants to have control...I really really understand that bless her...her life must feel like it has hurtled out of her control and its a horrible horrible feeling...sometimes I wonder is senility nearly a protection against that awareness? She is completely clued in and alone with all that in her head. Always think of my mum ..give MrJC a big hug from me...xx

Afternoon,
Just had my nails done............a nice crimson.

Here comes the news on Ma and Pa in Law. MIL has seen the light and ready to gallop into a home and she did it all herself. She rang the home she's chosen and there's a space. She's packed and ready to go. Lets just say there were many chins hit the floor.
Pa-in law has not woken up since Sunday morning. He's a shell and would you believe they're going to give him a MRI brain scan today as the doctors think he's got a brain tumour and tbh Mr. JC and SIL think he should just be left alone from prodding and poking.

satz123........screams ageism to me. Isn't that illegal?

First world problem alert :

I think I know.................I've been passed over for some interesting accounts type work. The admin / receptionist who joined full time a year ago is being trained up on this work. She ( nice lady - but a bit of a 'yes sir' woman) hasn't half the experience I have - yet I wasn't asked if I wanted to come in an extra day or two & to .do this work. I was asked though to come in tomorrow to cover reception while she trains.
I know I'm being stupid childish but I feel rejected. I know that it's because she works 9-5 five days a week - so is more available - whereas I only usually work weekends.
But if I'm honest she just does as she's told , never questions the status quo - never tries to come up with improvements - all the stuff that was expected in my previous job and still do on occasion when it makes sense.
Like the feckin' MOUNTAINS of paperwork that we do and takes Nurses up to 3 hours of their day to complete. They have to print EVERYTHING even though it's stored digitally.

I know this is because Management are still in the Stone Age when it comes to things like this. Our manager in particular, is not great on computer she even prints emails - so I like to think she wants this work done by someone who will not ask questions - just do it as it has always been done.

So I reckon I have a reputation of being a 'moaner' - but I have to call it when I see duplicate or unnecessary work being done.

I need advice on being able to keep this rejection in perspective and not feel hurt by it. Not allow my self-worth to be effected.
My instinct now is to tell them I'm not available tomorrow as I feel I'm being used again.
Good morning

Moan away Satz. A lot of it comes down to the full time versus part time. When part time you are not fully in the loop and that is probably what has happened here. Now ask yourself do you want to work more days, have more responsibility? If the answer is no then feck them and don’t bother working tomorrow if you don’t feel like it. Put YOURSELF FIRST. I said at my review this year that I needed more work. She then offered me monthly payroll. 4 days extra at work but always end of month while somebody out on long term sick leave. Knew full well that I would be dumped with it and would be a nightmare so I said no thank you. That’s my take anyways.

Have air fryer at cottage Mary and perfect for the two of us. Mine is very basic would say you would need huge one for family. I follow lady on instagram so I’ll check her name for you and put up later.

I would say you've pinpointed both problems and they are linked imo. Part-time workers in both jobs I worked in were always considered just shift fillers...it was thought that if they didn't want to work full-time they wouldn't have the commitment to rising in the ranks. Not right I'm sure but that's how the powers that be always saw them.

Also insecure 'bosses' (again imo) hate it when anyone points out mistakes or how things could be done better...mainly of course because of that self same insecurity in their inadequacy. Add to that a part-timer pointing it out...you're fecked. I could never have worked part-time because of that sneery attitude so with me it was all or nothing....Happy out with nothing now:yay:
It is VERY hard being passed over tho...in public service you have to interview for jobs and as I never wanted to rise the ranks further I finished with all that interviewing so thankfully never felt passed over...it was my choice...

Mary I feel your pain re. the fridge...I clearly remember 6 of us in the house spending couple hundred euros and the refrain next day 'there's nothing to eat'....feeding 6 was NOT fun...having said that mine all liked different meals cept for a few so the airfryer would have been perfect for my teenagers...so quick to cook all you would need is the raw ingredients in fridge (ALL??? haha)
Joey has 3 kids albeit they are smallies and he uses it all the time

Phew...all that on my phone!
I do feel for MIL Jacks...can't imagine the hurt and pain she must feel being told she can't live independently anymore...spare me please!!!!
