Re: Army November 2022
Good god JackieClaire, your fil is certainly keeping you on your toes!
So he just woke up by himself??
He's made of tough stuff!
Very exciting Rustop, are you looking at a big job? In another life I'd be an architect, a nice one though that wouldn't charge for chats! The cheek of her molly.
On cooking, I do use my slow cooker all the time, it's super. Also have an electric pressure cooker, which is excellent, and I presume economical too. Soup maker, which I mostly use for tomato based sauces and currys. Magimix, my pride and joy. George foreman, well used too.
If I find a space, I'll justify the airfryer too!
Xmas Dinner conversation has begun :nutso:
2 eldest got their theory tests today, now the fun starts, once they get their provisional licences..

Re: Army November 2022
I know its late but thought I'd give you an update.
There is only one suspected lesion ........... I heard it wrongly and over reacted in panic mode. Pa-in-law is awake and coherent. He's got a bladder infection which can mimic dementia and when Mr JC, Jenny and the son and heir went in and he was sitting up and moaning about hospital food.
He is not dying.
But thank you all of you for your kind words.:heartbeat:Last edited by JackieClaire; November 11, 2022, 07:11 PM.

Ah Jacks so sorry to hear that. Even when it's inevitable it's still a shock to the system. The end of an era.
The generation before us never cease to amaze me. Pragmatic for sure. Very little fazes them. And especially the women.
It's like what they knew would happen - has happened .............. so what's the fuss about.
Love to MrJC from Ireland Jacks xxxxxLast edited by satz123; November 11, 2022, 05:28 PM.

Mr. JC went to bed with his phone in case the hospital rang. We've told the offspring that Granddad is dying............we had to be blunt with the grandchildren but a)they're fecking grown ups. b) its the truth.

Fingers crossed for you Molly. Mind you I am finding that when they say they will do something in the west they seem to do it. Early start this morning, delivery of logs arrived an hour after I got here. Have a meeting with an architect this afternoon. Miserable day, got short walk done when I got here. Have blazing fire in range and feel more like putting my feet up crocheting than going out again.

You could try getting it delivered to Post Office & collect there?
Or use Parcel Motel - where the parcel is delivered & is stored in a locker for up to 48 hours and you are sent an email with a PIN to get it out.. Accessible 24/7.
Usually found outside a Supermarket or garage.
Locations – Parcel Motel

The in-laws saga does on and fecking on. MIL lost her place in the care home waiting see what is happening Pa-in-law. SIL went to see him last night and the doctors will not release him until a place in nursing home becomes available. Mr JC is going in to see him tonight..............bless his heart but he's grey faced and tired beyond belief with worry.
SIL has already offered them a room (its downstairs) with their own with a bathroom but got smacked back.
I hate to say it but at their age they need to be almost told what to do - they can be as petulant as children. So need to be gently guided ( or coerced ) to do the right thing.
I'd put both their names on the Nursing Home waiting list & when a place comes up FIL go and then MIL go next. She'll miss him anyway
despite what she says
MIL may need to be told it's only temporary till FIL is better or something. White lies are a part of it I'm afraid.

Would they not accept her offer and then look for somewhere that suits them at their leisure...?

Ah Molly, the joys of country living. Some of the drivers can’t be arsed and fling the package over whatever gate suits. We have a neighbourhood WhatsApp and half of the chat is tracking deliveries. Check your ericode too, ours was mixed up with a house down the road at one stage.
Never buy the cheaper clothes as after a certain age they do not do you any favours.
Oh Mary, that is so sad. Permanent solution to a temporary problem. As Satz said these gadgets save electricity. I don’t have a cooker in cottage and they are perfect for down there. Use the slow cooker here for stews etc. Thanks for the book recommendation. Going west in the morning and am going to listen to another of your recommendations, Duffy and son. Have downloaded that one too.
Off to get my hair done now. Oh hope you feeling better today Molly?
Our eircode here is fine actually so they've no excuse but in Dublin it sent everyone to a creche nearby...

I've started using my slow cooker again - it's brilliant for stews, curries etc. I'm sure there is much more I could be using it for.
Also the Airfryer is only used for Chips or Irish Brekkie when someone stays over . Must look into that more too. My sister makes toasted sandwiches with it.
Saw a programme about that online gang 'Shein' and how they can sell clothes so cheaply.
It's shocking. The Chinese factory workers earn a pittance. They work from 8am to 2/3 in the morning to finish the orders. Up to 400 garments each a day. 7 days a week. One day a month off. While the owners are worth BILLIONS.
Apparently it costs so little to make the clothes it's cheaper to give you a refund than to process a return because anything returned is just dumped & ends up in landfill.
So best to leave the rubbish with you.
Penneys is the same.
Personally I think the clothes are shite and so cheap and tarty looking. But then they are not targeting me ...... it's the young ones they want.
Still morally wrong.
