Peachie, thank you for sharing with us. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your son. I have three sons, 51yo, 47yo and 45yo. They are everything to me. I can't imagine your loss, then to go through a stroke. Again, so sorry.

I have a puzzle going all the time. The puzzle table makes it much easier to hide, if i need to.

Rava, did you ever go fishing?

Empyr3al, thinking of you. Hi ABC, Dill and Jude.

We are back in the mid 70s and sunny. Yay. I'll take another day of freedom!

Jude and Ginger, thanks so much for the feedback and the suggestions about puzzling. It was slowly dawning on me that I might have to organize the pieces in some way to manage the chaos. I will try the color suggestion today. I'm certain it will help. It is amazing how one can get lost in the activity and the time flies by. But without some successes along the way I my brain starts to "go haywire". I'm not giving up, even if I have jumped in on an advanced level. Mr. D stops by and puts a piece or two together too, so we'll muddle through.

Rava, how did it go at the majong session? I've never played, so I think later today I will go on youtube and see if I can find a demo so I can know better what you were doing! It sound really nice tho, spending time with the neighbors. I hope alcohol wasn't too much of a feature.

Peachie, it's very nice to have you join in with us. You are very welcome to join in as often as you like. I'm touched that you have enjoyed our company. I have a daughter, age 47 and a son, age 44. Condolences to you on the loss of your son. I can only imagine...

Cowboy, I hear you on puzzles not really being your thing. You should just stick with your current hobbies and interests. We have a nice Senior Center near us too and they serve a noon meal everyday through the week. It's good food and good company, but we don't go very often.

Waves Mul! Emp, thinking of you in this time of sorrow.

Good morning Cafe and puzzle lovers! I just got Mr. R a 500 piece puzzle of the Florida Everglades. I cant wait to give it to him. Well yesterday was my first Mahjong lesson. For my first lesson I learned how to spell it correctly. LOL. It is nothing like the game on my Ipad which is basically matching. This is much more complicated. We learned how to make patterns on our little racks. Lesson 2 is next week. I am definitely not ready for prime time. 🤣. What I liked is that it was 2 hours of fun without any thought of drinking. I am investing in a small cheap amazon set to practice on. I had no idea how expensive a good set is. My teachers set was beautiful and she paid over 400.00 for it. WTH??? Weather here is supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow morning. Yikes. Peachie, nice to hear a little about you. I am very sorry about your son and your stroke. You certainly have been thru it. I am glad you are here with us. Gives us accountability. Plus we get breakfast every Sunday from Cowboy. Lots of perks! Wishing everyone a great and sober day!

We also sort the puzzle pieces by colors Ginger and it does make it easier to look through them for certain pieces.

You're doing great Rava, one day at a time and the weeks will add up!

Our puzzle is on a table downstairs in the family room Jude, it's nice to have it there and just work on it when the mood strikes.

That's a big table dill to have filled with puzzle pieces! It'll get less messy as the puzzle starts to come together.

Sorry about the loss of your son Peachie, I've lost 2 brothers due to heart problems. And glad you've recovered from your stroke, many are not as fortunate and live with stroke related problems for a long time.

Hiya. Just wanted to pop in and say hello and thank you for your warm invites. They meant a lot. I really didn't want to cause any drama at all. I just love your thread and you feel like friends to me. I'm a 74yr old widow living in Western Australia and have had problems with alcohol on and off in my life time . I still drink occasionally but not to excess. I lost my youngest son due to a heart problem a year ago. He was only 46yrs old. Then I had a stroke 8 weeks later. I am fine now and recovered well. I really appreciate you being here and you also keep me company everyday. Your lives are inspiring to me. Thanks for listening.

Dill, I bought a 500 piece puzzle to start with and I'm sure glad that I did! I can remember when I used to do 1,000 piece puzzles with no problem, but apparently those days are long gone. Like Ginger, I put the similar colored pieces into separate piles which really helps. I have no regrets about buying a puzzle table as it sure makes things a little easier. I can only work on the puzzle for short periods of time before my brain goes haywire!

Rava, I play majong on my kindle all the time, but I've never actually played the board game version of it. Might be interesting to try.

    Waves to all!

I'm in for another 24 hours of freedom...

Empyr3al, I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all of you.

Dill, did you sort all your pieces by color? If not, you might try that. I use bowls to keep the colors separate, then work through one bowl at a time. It makes it way more manageable! I find the entire process so relaxing. Good luck!

Waves to all my pals! I'll take another day.

Good morning Cafe. Empyr3al, I am so sorry about your sister. Like you said she is now free. I am sure you will be a great help to the twins who will need your support. Peachie, welcome to our little group. We are all just plugging along in our sobriety with support and friendship. It’s been a full week since I messed up and hopefully I can keep another week of sobriety going. Today after my volunteer job, a neighbor is teaching a few of us how to play majong. I play it on my ipad but I think the actual board game is different. So hoping everyone’s day is a good one. 24 more please and thank you.

Sorry to hear about your sister empyr3al, and it's great that the rest of you will look after her family.

I can only work on my puzzle for short periods of time dill, every piece starts looking the same after a while lol.

I agree Jude, find what works and stick with it.

Waves to the rest of the gang...

Speaking of water, I'm 'drowning in this puzzle' project! I haven't done more than 100 piece puzzle (with the grands) in many years. I think I shouldn't have jumped into a 750 as a starting point! So far I have all the outside pieces, but the interior pieces are proving more elusive... My whole 3x7 table is completely covered. I can see the value in portable puzzle board now!

    Not today.

empyr3al, I am so sorry about your sister and can't imagine what you are going through.

Everybody has to choose their own path to sobriety and the one I use works for me. So far, the path that I chose is helping to keep me sober. Can't ask for more than that!

Peachy, good to see you, you should stop in more often!
