Rava, I'm not sure I'm up for learning a complex game at this point in time. Mahjong looks fascinating which is why I said it would make a good New Years Resolution. But not for me. I'm sticking with my 750 piece puzzle for now. I lose myself in it and am surprised when I look at the clock after a session at the puzzle table!

Peachie, you are an animal lover too! We all love our pets here, too.

I'll take another day, please and thank you.

Hiya. It's 9.06pm here in Western Australia and I won't be long out of bed! I love bed time. I have 2 cats, Rosie and Patches. Mother and daughter.
I have owned pets all my life and loved them all to bits. My most recent dog Abby lived til she was 17yrs . She was a maltese shitzu and an absolutely gorgeous little girl. I have been drinking a bit too much since Ben died but not enough to get drunk or anything like that. Just about3 glasses of wine every night over about 4 hours.

It has just become a habit. A comfort I guess. I know in my earlier life I was very susceptible to drinking far too much a lot but age has slowed me right down. Phew. Haha

Wishing you all a lovely day
    Xxxxx

Good morning Cafe. It sounds like some treacherous driving situations for many of you. WOW be careful out there. It’s 39 degrees this morning in Florida which is not what we are used to! Dill, mahjong is my New Year’s resolution too. I ordered a cheap amazon kit which arrives today. I am actually looking forward to practicing with my set. That is my goal tonight. Hopefully I will not be thinking about drinking. Anything to divert my brain!! I hope everyone has a good day with no alcohol involved!!! 24 more please and thank you!

Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes, all 3 of them lol. I wouldn't be where and who I am today without the help and support of everyone here!

Sounds like I'll have to look into this Mahjong game Rava. I have only played the electronic version but the real version sounds interesting. They tried to get it started at the Seniors Center here but there wasn't enough interest.

Your son sounds like a talented man Peachie. Sounds like cricket is a favorite sport in Australia if he was able to make a living from it. My older brother and I were estranged for quite a few years, thankfully we had mended our fences before he passed away.

There's nothing fun about winter driving when it comes to dealing with black ice, snow, and whiteout conditions Jude and dill. It's usually best to just stay off the roads if at all possible.

    Waves to Ginger and Mulburry...

Off to the farm today just to check on things and also give one of the neighbors some advice and help on installing a diesel heater in his snowmobile trailer.

    Have a fantastic Friday y'all!

Yesterday there was a 30 + car pile up on route 81 due to whiteout conditions and black ice. It's a road that I travel on all of the time and it can get pretty dicey in the winter. Luckily, there were no fatalities but several people were sent to the hospital. So grateful that I wasn't on the highway when it happened.

Cowboy, congrats on 11 years booze free and 3 years off of the cigarettes! That's quite an accomplishment and I admire you for it.

Peachie, your oldest son must be pretty talented if he played cricket for a living. You must be so proud of him. 🙂

Rava, Mahjong sounds pretty complicated and difficult to learn, but it's a good distraction from drinking. Isn't it amazing how time flies when you're totally engrossed in a project?

    Waves to all!

    24 more please...

Happy belated birthday, Cowboy! Sorry to be late to the party!

I had to get out early for the volunteer job and was shocked by the state of the roads! Snow, ice and drifting was the order of the day. Very dicey drive, but thankfully I made it!

Rava, learning Mahjong and enjoying it is a great New Years Resolution!

Waves to Ginger, Jude, Peachie, Mul and Empyr!

24 more, please and thank you.

Good morning Cafe. Happy Belated birthday Cowboy! Dill, I am following a girl on You Tube called Southern Sparrow Mahj 101. She has a series and I am on #5. When we were learning there was no alcohol involved. I don’t even know how anyone could drink and participate in this. LOL. I am determined that I am gonna learn this game in 2026. I also plan to play right from the start as a non drinker! Empyr3 I am impressed that you can stay up so late. You must be young! Hope everyone has a great and sober day. It’s pouring rain here in Florida right now so I have no idea what today brings. Dill, I got the book yesterday you recommended “My Way Out.” Hi to Peachie, Ginger, Jude too! 24 more please and thank you.

Happy Belated Birthday Cowboy! You are one in a million. Your care and consistency give me hope and belief in humanity. Hope you had a good one. It is 8.30pm in Perth at the moment. It's been a warm day and sunny. My cricket team played this afternoon and won! My eldest son played cricket for a living and represented various states here in Australia. Very proud of him. He and my son, Ben, were estranged when Ben died but he was heartbroken and helped me out with the arrangements etc. Ben was a troubled soul but I loved him so much. Thanks for letting me talk about it and good luck with the puzzles girls. Xx

ABC, that's such a wonderful accomplishment. I remember well your last bought with the poison. Eleven years and three! What a wonderful gift you gave yourself!

Empyr3al, were you working? Was that what had you out so late?

Waves to all my Cafe pals! I'll join you for another day of freedom.

We've got lots of ice and snow here as well empyr3al, but mostly on the country roads. The paved roads are getting back to normal winter driving finally.

Not to worry Ginger, I keep a low profile with things like that. But thanks for the birthday wishes. You too Jude! I turned 69, eleven years sober, and 3 years smoke free on the 13th.

Waves to the rest of the gang!

Happy belated birthday cowboy! Hope that you had a great day!

Peachie, pull up a chair and stay awhile. I'm so sorry about your son passing and your health problems. This is a great place for friendship and support so keep coming back as often as you like!

Empyr3al, sounds like you are a night owl. You go to bed a few hours before I get up. 😊

Rava, glad that you enjoyed your first Mahjong lesson. It sounds way different than the one that I play on my kindle. I love that feeling of being so absorbed in a project that my thoughts are focused on it and nothing else. For a brief period of time I am living in the moment, which is what life should be about.

    Waves to dill and Mul!

    Not today...
