Jude, I enjoy both knit and crochet and have a lot of yarn that I should use up. A "stashghan" sounds like a great plan! Making an afghan is a great winter project. I don't know if I have the patience for it right now, but I have made afghans in the past and they are great to have around!

Cowboy, thanks for the pics. The cabin looks like it is coming together nicely! We got one door frame put nearly put together and will finish that up today. Then we'll have our son come over to help hang it on the track. That will take 3 of us. The doors will be metal which Mr. D has on order but it's not going to arrive for two more weeks. Until then the door frame will just be hanging, waiting for the metal to be put on. Only one of the 4 door panels was absolutely necessary to get done as the others are still holding up. But we are going to do all four. Since Mr. D didn't know how things would go, and because materials are so expensive, he only bought enough to do the one door. It's going pretty well though and we will probably be ordering more materials soon.

Rava, I love Chinese food. I am still upset about the time that our favorite Chinese restaurant in town was torn down to put up a Walgreens, of all things!! We really haven't had any good Chinese food around here since then and that was about 20=25 years ago!

Ginger, that crockpot meal had my mouth watering!

I best go get best with the door project. 24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Thanks, ABC. I love the size. It will be perfect for their lake retreat.

I think prime rib is the main course tonight at the family dinner but I did hear talk of a little elk too. Jude, you're so right about game, it's all about how it's prepared. When the boys were still home and I was cooking meat for them, I'd brown the steaks of whatever they'd killed, make gravey from the drippings and put it all in the crackpot on low for the day. When we'd get home it was tender and ready to eat with mashed potatoes. That was one of their favorites!

Waves to all! I'll take another day.

Our oldest daughter Amanda and daughter-in-law Darcie both love to knit Jude, seems like they both have a project or two that they're working on. I've eaten elk a few times and in my opinion it's one of the best eating wild game out there.

Now you've got me wanting Chinese food Rava lol. Not sure the last time we've had any.

How did Mr D make out with the barn door dill, or is that today's job?

We got the new power pole put up and the waterer all set up yesterday Ginger, not just to wait for the guys with the bucket truck to get the overhead powerline put back up.

Not much on the agenda for me today, but I do need to get my laundry done so I'll get on that sometime this morning.

Good morning Cafe. Jude, you will have to post a picture of your completed afghan when you are finished. I never mastered knitting but do occasionally crochet. Ginger, tomorrow I am picking up Chinese at our local carry out and taking to my daughter’s house. We are gonna have a Chinese night. I figured thats easy, no prep and we can all enjoy the evening. I am betting I would love Elk. Could probably make some jerky out of it. LOL. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. 24 more please and thank you.

    Good morning cafe!

Dill, hopefully Mr. D can get the barn door repaired soon. Sometimes it's just better to do the job yourself rather than wait around for a contractor to show up.

Cowboy, looking forward to seeing the cabin pics. I would love to have a little cabin in the Adirondack mountains which are only about an hour and a half drive from here.

Ginger, I've never eaten Elk but I hear that it's very good. I guess that it's all in how you prepare it.

Well, yesterday I started to knit an afghan. The pattern is called a stashghan and you use all of your leftover balls of yarn from previous projects to complete it. I made one a couple of years ago and of course Mr. J wants another one. I love to knit and this blanket will keep me busy for a long time.

    Hey Rava and Mul!

    24 more please...

    Hi all!

Dill, I've eaten all the game available around these parts, back in the day. I eat zero meat now so won't be trying it. Elk is the best tasting, as I recall. Well, in my opinion. It sounds like we all consider our pets too much like family to put them in a kennel. I hope the barn door project is a success. I'm sure it will be!

ABC, here's to a successful tank heater install! I'm sure you'll make quick work of it.

Jude, enjoy your quiet day. I started a new diamond art project. I hoping to do it as we travel south.

Rava, do you have one last gathering with your family before you head out? If so, enjoy!

    I'll take another day!

Enjoy your day inside Jude, any crafting or reading you'll be doing?

Funny you mentioned it dill, I am headed out this morning to get the waterer set in place and connected. We first have to get the new power pole installed, then do the rest. Hopefully Mr D can get the barn doors repaired and his tomatoes and peppers survived the frost.

    Waves to Rava and Ginger...

Adam said he did take a bunch of pictures and he'll send some over to me today. I'll get them uploaded and ready to post tomorrow.

Jude, nothing like a quiet day with no commitments to put a smile on your face! I have the same thing here today. Mr. D has started a project to fix the barn doors. The fellow that we had come out and give us an estimate said he would do it and would get back to us with an estimate, but he never did. I think he may get around to it one day, but we don't want to wait and see. We would like to be able to close our barn. So, he is going to the hardware store to get supplies for the project, and I am going to ride along and pick up a few things at the grocery which is in the same shopping center. Nice easy day.

We had a hard frost overnight. Mr. D covered up his tomatoes and peppers, so we shall see.

Rava, it's so sad that dogs can't talk. The last time I took Lily to the vet she was obviously very frightened that I might leave her there (like the like the time when she had to have that tooth pulled). She was SO happy that we left the Vet's office together!

Cowboy, has the weather improved enough to get going on the waterer?

Ginger, do you think you will eat some of the Elk? Have you ever? I have had deer meat and bison, but never Elk.

24 more for all of us here please and thank you.

    Good morning everyone!

It's a cool and rainy outside but that's ok, my little house is dry and warm. Just another thing to be grateful for. Not much happening around here which is probably a good thing!

Here's to another 24 hours of peace...

Ginger, that was some prize! I bet your grandson is walking on air after that. Impressive!

It sounds like I'm not the only one that has a hard time putting pets in a boarding kennel! We used to have a neighbor that could come over and see to the animals, but that neighbor died some time back. And we have had arrangements with people over the years to come and stay at the house and see to the pets, but none of those folks are around here now. We could ask our son but I think he has enough on his plate at the moment. We'll see. Maybe this winter we'll arrange a short trip.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

ABC, I'm pretty sure his dad and uncle were just as excited about that elk as he was. That is until they had to get it out! They called another friend and by the time he got there they had it dressed and ready. The four of them got it out. Crazy!

Rava, was something on your mind? Airports perhaps?

    Hi Dill, Jude, Mul.
