Evening everyone. I also love your early morning posts too Jude. I keep coming into the Cafe to see if you've posted yet! Of course, it is late afternoon here and a bit awkward not jumping straight in. Haha.

Dill glad you like Nurse Jackie. I am still ploughing through it. Love

all the characters. Funny but kind.

I am not an early riser AB. Used to be when I worked but enjoy getting up when I feel like it or the cats demand it! I used to have a lovely big white fluffy boy who used to pat me on my face to get me up. If that didn't work he would extend his claws a little bit. That worked!!!

My work as a psychologist after my hubby died kept me sane. Although I was drinking a lot it was only on weekends at that stage. I worked for the Ministry of Justice for a long time. I also then worked with homeless youth and then as a Family Liason Officer. Then I had a Private Practice working mostly with young people.,
By that stage I realised I was not fit for purpose so to speak. I had met a horrible narcissistic man and was totally lost.

And lost i stayed for a long time.

Night night peeps. Thanks for being here.

    Xxx

I guess they don't need heat that often in Miami to justify the cost of putting in a heating system Rava, but you'd think they'd have something for the odd times it's needed. I wonder if it's all hotels or just that one.

Hope the Dr appointment goes well Jude and you get there and back safely.

From the sounds of things you won't be having coffee out on the porch for a while dill, I see you guys are getting some pretty cold weather over there.

That's great news Ginger, but I imagine you'll still take it a bit easy for a little while yet.

Bubba and I go to bed quite early as well Peaches, but we're early risers so it makes sense to get to bed early. Happy to hear you don't have many lingering problems from the stroke.

    Not today...

Good morning Cafe. Seems like it’s cold weather everywhere. My heat just came on. When we went to the hotel in Miami this past weekend, it was freezing in our hotel room. I called the front desk to ask about turning on the heat and they informed me that the hotel had no HVAC system. WOW thats crazy. They offered to bring blankets. We were glad to actually get in our car and blast the heater. Who would know that hotels are built with no HVAC??? Anyway, going to play another game of beginner mahjong with a few friends. I am bringing cupcakes. No alcohol is involved. Thank goodness. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Stay warm everyone! 24 more please!

Hope your Dr.'s appointment goes well, Jude. We need you to look after yourself so we can continue to start our days (or go to sleep) reading your very pleasant posts! Which reminds me, when will we ever get to be back out on our decks/porches drinking our morning coffee and enjoying Nature and local wildlife?! Seems like a very distant memory....

BTW, I have started watching Nurse Jackie and love it! (Mr. D, not so much, but he doesn't do well with medical shows. Too raw.) Thanks for the mentions!

    Not today.

Wow Jude! You deserve a medal! So do all the volunteers that showed up yesterday, and everyday! The superbowl is going to be exciting. I'm not really invested in who wins this year though.

Cowboy, no cab on the loader, but Mr. D wears lined coveralls for the job.

Peachie, glad you are able to get around in spite of that stroke!

Waves to Rava, Ginger, Mul and E3.

Hi everyone tonight. It's 7.52pm and I'm determined to get to bed early tonight.

Ginger yes I am close to my sisters although we all chose different paths in our lives we stay in touch. More so as we've got older. Mary turns 78 this year and Annie 67. My goodness where did the years go.

Dill, my stroke did cause some mobility issues initially but with lots of rehab and PT I have slowly come good. I am very lucky and only suffer from balance problems and slight weakness on the left side of my body.

Goodness Jude you were like a knight in shining armour going off to help all those kitties. Many kudos to you.

Glad you made it there and back safely Jude, and like you said, it's a good thing you did because of the lack of help. The electric shovel works great for the smaller snowfalls, not the best for under an inch or over 4 inches. The last couple of bigger snowfalls I used the big snowblower, so I'm pretty much covered foe whatever snowfall amount we get, except the amount you guys in the east are getting lol.

Sounds like Mr Dhas his work cut out for him dill, at least he has the tractor and front end loader. He'll have to dress warmly though if the tractor doesn't have a cab. Hopefully they'll have to roads plowed so you can make it to your appointment today.

I have no idea how I'd deal with that kind of snow Mulburry! Even 8 - 10" is enough for me to clear away.

Nothing wrong with a pj day Peachie, might as well be relaxed if you're going to indoors all day. I never had any sisters, just 3 brothers and two of them have passed. My remaining brother (the youngest of us) lives about an 8 hour drive away so we don't get to see each other often, but stay connected via our phones.

Sounds like you had a good day yesterday Rava, in all ways. Good job!

I never walk 3 miles even with 2 good legs Ginger lol. You'll be back to normal before you know it.

Good morning Cafe. Wow it sounds like some of you got tons of snow. Lots of work involved with shoveling and moving it. Now the really cold air comes in to keep it from melting. Hope everyone stays safe in that mess. Peachie, a PJ day is fine with me. I often get in my pjs as early as 3 pm. Jude, I am glad you made it safely to work and sounds like you were needed with all those cats and so few workers. Ginger, so glad you are hiking and doing well. I am sure you are taking good care of that knee when you are hiking. Congrats on the Seahawks. I don’t watch sports but my family does and I know how excited they get! Hi to Cowboy, Dill, Mul and Al. 24 more please and thank you.

Yes, I did go to my volunteer job yesterday and it was a tricky drive but I made it there in one piece. I'm glad that I did as there were only 2 other people that made it in. There are almost a hundred cats at the shelter so it took us awhile to get everything done but we managed to do it in a little over four hours. I'm glad that I went in though and was able to help.

Peachie, I often spend the day in my pj's if I don't have to go anywhere, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. I have 2 sisters as well, but they live far away in other states. Wish that I could see them more often. I'm glad that your life is getting better after losing people close to you and dealing with health issues.

Rava, good job saying no to the booze. It's got to be so tempting when everyone else is hanging around the pool drinking. Don't know if I could do it.

Wow Ginger! A three mile hike? That's awesome! All that hard work that you did in PT is really starting to pay off. I'm from New England so I'm going to side with the Patriots in the Super bowl.

Dill, we also got a foot of snow and I had to blast my way out of the driveway as Mr. J hadn't plowed it before I had to leave. Thankfully my car is really good in the snow.

Cowboy, how's the electric snow shovel working out for you? I just have this mental image of you out in the driveway with your electric shovel and a pair of those snowblower crocs. Sorry... It just popped into my head. lol

    Hey Mul!
