The storm hit here overnight, Jude. Snow is still coming down but it looks like about 5" so far. Those crocs are going to be swamped! LOL

Mul, gorgeous picture. Thanks for sharing that bit of Heaven on Earth.

E3, I never made beef shanks. I have some in the freezer from the last beef we had processed. Unfortunately, they must be near the bottom of the chest freezer. I am looking forward to fixing them, when I find them!

Jude, maybe by tomorrow the roads will be cleared, but there may still be drifting. If you go, be careful. Road conditions are very dicey here today. I'm not planning on going anywhere today. So far, no power outages reported.

Peachy, thanks for sharing more of your history. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. That must have been devastating. Glad you managed to emerge from the darkness. Can't have been easy.

Waves to Rava, Cowboy and Ginger.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Hi everyone. Just had to jump in early today after Mul"s beautiful photo! Wow What a beautiful place you live. I am envious Mul.

Just finished watching my state in Australia win the Grand Final in Big Bash Cricket. Cricket here is like your ice hockey or American football in popularity and we love it. Very excited at the moment!!

Now will wait for my supper from Cowboy. Yummo.

We actually had a little bit of rain here today. Weird. Anyway may pop in a little bit later and yes Jude the actress in Nurse Jackie is brilliant. Only on to Season 2 .

    Xxx

Great pic Mul! So where can I buy a pair of those snowblower crocs? 😂 Al, those beef shanks sound delicious! Sounds like a complicated recipe but I'm sure that it's worth the effort.

Peachie, I loved the show Nurse Jackie and it was a good way to see how addiction can really mess up your life. The woman who played Jackie is a phenomenal actress.

The Nor'easter is supposed to hit this morning around nine or so. They are still predicting 12-18 inches of snow and bitter cold between today and tomorrow morning. Might be a fun drive getting to my volunteer job at the shelter tomorrow. We shall see...

Waves to cowboy, dill, ginger and Rava!

    24 more please...

Hahahaha, ya maybe not the best idea.

People around here are flocking to the stores buying groceries, generators and whatever else they can think of. When I was drinking, I didn't care if I ran out of milk, but I made sure that I had two boxes of wine on hand.
Same with me, I always made sure to be well stocked with whiskey and beer. The idea of running out of booze and having to deal with withdrawals was a horrifying prospect, it was a constant anxiety in the back of my mind, so glad that period of my life is over and done with. Not today.

P.S. We are lucky on the west coast, still getting gorgeous and relatively warm weather (well just on the + Celcius side in the daytime at least, Here's a pic from a hike I did a few days ago, spectacular day, with not a cloud in the sky!

Lastnight, I did beef shanks, approx 4kg. Braised them in a pan 2 min per side. They were marinated in galbi sauce for 2 hours prior. I put 1/3 inch size lengths of sliced onions on the bottom. Carrots and potatoes on top. 900ml of beef broth and another 500ml of galbi sauce. Was a hit. The bone marrow was pretty wild.

I loved that time too and really enjoyed learning. I got my degree just before I turned 40yrs. Then my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour and I fell apart. In fact, my life as I knew it, changed forever. He died 9 months after he was diagnosed. I hit the booze big time!!

Anyhow enough for tonight. I've been following you forever. Yes Jude we do have a winter here tho not as extreme cold like you guys do.

Thanks for letting me tell my story. I need the reminder that I was a bit of a go getter once and not just a messy drunk. I'm finding it cathartic.

    Night night everyone.

Thank you for being honest. Thank you for your vulnerability. You hated people like me but we are more similar than different. When I run meetings its entirely catharthis; its how I have self control and power (of self). I appreciate you for telling it.

Peachie, thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry about your hubby and Ben. Terrible losses for you. Keep coming back and sharing.

i would have been right there buying extra boxes of wine too. In fact, I got to the point where I always had a second box at the ready, just in case!

Jude and Dil, I'm hoping the snow isn't as bad as predicted but it is January. Stay safe and warm.

Rava, have fun at mahjong today!

Hey Mul, ABC and Empyr3al. Hope you all have an easy day. I'll join you for another day of freedom!

Dill, how much snow are you supposed to get from this storm? People around here are flocking to the stores buying groceries, generators and whatever else they can think of. When I was drinking, I didn't care if I ran out of milk, but I made sure that I had two boxes of wine on hand. My priorities sure have changed!

Peachie, love hearing about your past. I never would have guessed that you were in the army. Do you guys have winter where you live or is it always hot.

Al, like Ginger, I'm curious about why you would say "Don't hate me" as well. No one here hates anyone on this forum.

Cowboy, those are some cold temps so I can see why you want to wait until Spring to install the garage doors. Brrr!

    Not today...
We are supposed to get anywhere from 3-10 inches over the weekend, Jude. I don't think the snowblower crocs are gonna' cut it! And I used to be absolutely the same way about preparing for a storm....Extra box of wine before even thinking about the milk and bread!

Mul, thanks for the information on those crocs. Pretty sure it was a joke...

Rava, good on you for keeping your mind sharp, Somebody here's got to do it!

Waves to Cowboy, Empyr3al, Peachie, and Ginger.

I saw those crocs on an Instagram post Mulburry and got a good laugh from it. I'm sure it's just an AI fake though lol. Scary what they can do with AI.

I don't think even my old regular snowblower could handle that much snow Jude, hopefully you won't get as much as they forecast.

You've had a very interesting life Peachie, can't wait to hear more about your adventures. Canada has been a training center for many different areas of the Armed Forces. The college where I worked actually trained British Army nurses back in WW 2 and British soldiers still come for training exercises at Camp Wainwright, an army base not far from where we live.

Waves to dill, Ginger, Rava, and empyr3al...

Considerably warmer here this morning by about 15 degrees, but got a light dusting of snow that the leaf blower will take care of. It'll be nice to get outside for a bit of exercise and fresh air.
