Cowboy, Mr J hasn't been hunting in a few days due to the hot weather. He likes to hang the deer for a couple of days before processing the meat but with the warm weather it would surely start to decompose. The weather is supposed to get much cooler this week and we even have a frost warning for tonight.

Ginger and Rava, sounds like you snowbirds will be flying south pretty soon. It must be a lot of work getting ready for the trip, but I'm sure that it's worth it to ditch the snow and cold for warmer climates.

Dill, we also had a lot of rain the other night which we really needed.

Yesterday we picked the last of the veggies in the garden. I had a bunch of tomatoes so I made tomato soup in the slow cooker and it came out yummy.

24 more for all of us please...

Wow, it's in the 40's here this morning, and what's more, they're predicting a heavy frost overnight tonight! Looks like Fall/Winter are finally kicking Summer to the curb around here.

Jude, how's it going with Mr. J? Is he still enjoying the hunt? I read a story this morning about an 83yo woman in Wyoming that went out on the first day of Elk season and shot herself an Elk, quartered it and her son packed it out, all on the first morning. To beat it all, they went out on horseback! Her son was really worried about her having an accident at her age, but she insisted on going. I thought it was amazing!

Ginger and Rava, getting ready to go is a pain, but it will definitely be worth it!

Cowboy, the woman that shot the elk had her picture taken with it and I was impressed with the size of the animal. Much larger than a deer. It was a Cow Elk. Oh, and we finally got some real rain yesterday! Two and a half inches.

Nothing new around here. We did finally hear back from the fella that does fencing work and other jobs. He came and talked with Mr. D about the barn doors we need replaced. He said he'd work up an estimate and get back to us. That was a couple of weeks back so we are hoping to hear something soon.

Today will be a very good day not to drink.

I think you'd heal up a bit quicker than that Ginger, but maybe 6 weeks to be back to normal could be right.

Thanks for mentioning the oil change Rava, it just reminded me that my truck is due for one as well.

I see WQD is up and running again dill.

No luck hunting for Mr J yet Jude?

Off to the farm today to winterize the camper and blow out the underground water line. And book my truck in for an oil change lol.

Good morning Cafe. Ginger, we are both heading to our warm homes around the same time. We leave the 29th. We are flying tho. Thank goodness. We hate the brutal drive. It is literally pouring buckets of rain while I type this and drink my coffee. Taking the car for an oil change today and starting the process of getting things ready before we head south. Wishing everyone a wonderful day. No drinking today….

Ginger, no I didn't wear a brace and my back held out pretty well. I hope that you are able to have a knee replacement sooner rather than later. Six weeks may seem like a long time to heal after surgery but just think of all those pain free hikes that you'll be able to enjoy!

Waves to Rava, dill, cowboy and Mul!

    24 more please...

Mul, such a gorgeous picture. Isn't fall hiking the best!? Enjoy it as much as you can.

We leave the 28th. We plan to be down south by the 31st, if all goes well. Once we get down there, we will make SURE we are ready, then pull the trigger! I have an appointment with a surgeon on 11/3. If he'll replace my knee, I'll have about 6 wks before I'm good for much. Lol fingers crossed. I'm over this gimpy shit!

Rava, you're getting close to heading south too. Right?

Jude, I'm glad the job was better. Did you wear the brace or just do things that didn't bother your back as much?

Hi ABC and Dill. Slo, sure wish you'd check in!

I'll take another day of freedom!

I'm getting the same message dill, not sure what the problem is. I'll keep trying throughout the day though. Not sure who to complain to when the service is free though lol.

Hopefully they can get you into another position Jude, something like "purr maker" lol.

Have a great day on the beach Rava!

Such gorgeous country Mulburry, I'm glad you appreciate it...

When are you headed to Arizona Ginger, maybe you'll change your mind once you get there.

Good morning All! Mul, your picture is absolutely stunning. Wow! Jude, I wonder what other jobs you could consider at the shelter. That way you are still there but not doing a lot of physically demanding work. I hope you find your happy place. Today Mr. R and I are walking the beach looking for sea glass. Getting some exercise in while the weather still permits. Hope everyone has a great day. 24 more please and thank you.

Cowboy, I'm having trouble accessing the login page at WQD this morning. When I click on the login button it takes me to a blank page with the following message on it:

    "no healthy upstream"
