Good morning Cafe. Dill, I am proud of you for getting back and going thru your books and other tools. You can do it!! Cowboy, Makes perfect sense to wait for better weather! Hi to Jude and Mul and Ginger. This morning I am trying something completely new. I signed up for a bungee fitness class. Starts in 2 hours so I better start getting ready. I hope I am not too old for this class! LOL. 24 more please and thank you.

Good morning cafe! It's raw and windy outside with a mix of rain and snow. Yuck! Not much happening around here so it's a short post.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful booze free day!

    24 more please...

Ginger, I do know you are all here for me. I appreciate it! We're all here for each other.

Sounds like a good plan, Cowboy. But do you actually have a place to store the doors until better weather? Seems like that would take a fair amount of space. We don't heat our garage but there have been occasions where we put out a space heater. I am dreading winter, but I guess that's not going to get me anywhere! LOL It's coming whether I like it or not. Thanks for your kind words about timing. I hope I am getting closer.

Rava, I can relate to every word you said. Thank you. It really helps to have accountability and your little community in Florida is one that seems to ooze permissiveness. I imagine there are others in your community who would appreciate a few more guardrails in place. I know you're struggling but stay strong. You are building up your southern sober muscles! As Jude reminded: ODAAT

Jude, I am going to have to develop some new tools and revisit some of the old ones. I have been digging through some old books and meditation CDs. Perhaps I'll blow off the dust on those and see if they help. Thanks for your kind words.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

ABC, that sounds like a solid plan for now. Wait for better weather!

Dill, thank you for sharing. We are here for you but you know that.

    Hi Rava, Jude and Mul.

One more day, here I come.

That's great news about your knee Ginger, and that's not a long wait at all. In Alberta for any joint replacement the wait is usually 14 - 16 months!

I'm glad that you're finding AA helpful Jude, we all have to find something that works for us as it's darn near impossible to quit on our own.

It sure helps when your spouse understands what you're going through Rava and hopefully he'll be a great help moving forward.

You'll know when the time is right to close and lock that door dill, it seems to have a strange way of making itself known.

All three places were pretty close in price, but they all told me it would be at least a six week delivery! Not sure I want to be changing garage doors in the freezing cold weather. I haven't put heat in the garage yet because the old doors aren't insulated so it gets darn cold in there. I ordered a new spring off Amazon and I'll fix the door for now. I'll probably get the doors ordered so that they are here and then change them on a warmer day in the winter.

Good morning Cafe. Dill, I am so sorry about your slip. The only one you have disappointed is yourself. We all believe in you and we have your back! I am struggling day to day trying my damndest to not start that pattern while in Florida. I am hoping it becomes easier the longer I fight it. Accountability is huge and I have none here. Back north, I have family eyes everywhere so there is a difference. I am using my tools and thankfully Mr. R finally understands my struggles. So here we are all in the same place! Stay strong and remember you got this! Jude, Glad you still go to AA and that you find it helpful. Whatever works for us is the right thing. Cowboy, glad you got that door up to your garage so Bubba could get her car out!. Ginger sorry about the 6-8 week wait but at least you can get it done in about 2 months. Then hopefully you will be as good as new! Hope everyone has a great day. 24 more for us all please!

Dill, thanks for your honesty. We've all been there before, just don't let one slip turn into a full blown relapse. Yes, I still go to AA meetings and they really help. I have made many friends within the program, and there's nothing like talking to a group of people that share the same struggles as I do. It has really helped me in resisting the temptation to drink. The drinking thoughts still happen, but I have many tools to use to combat them. It works for me. One day at a time.

Ginger, so glad that you're finally able to get a knee replacement, even if you have to wait for a few weeks. Just think of all the pain free hiking that you'll be able to do.

    Hey cowboy, Rava and Mul!

    Not today!

Ginger, I have been thinking about what caused my slip. I really have no good reason for buying that wine. I believe that I have just not closed that door all the way. I feel like I need to shore up my resolve and that's what I intend to do. I'm grateful to all of you for being so committed. I want to reach that level of commitment that you all have reached. I'm glad your knee surgery is a go.

Dill, thank you for your email address. I responded to you. I promise not to abuse it. As for drinking, did something happen or did you just say "heck with it"? I'm sorry to hear about Mr D's situation with his knee. I've never heard of that procedure but if it works, that would be great.

Jude, I'm glad, with help, your job is getting better. I'm sure they would hate to lose you as a volunteer.

Rava, it's the same around here. About 3 in the afternoon you start seeing people outside having happy hour and it sounds so fun. But... we all know how it ends with us.

ABC, I'm glad that door wasn't too heavy. I hope you're able to get Bubba's door operational soon.

The knee replacement is a GO. Unfortunately, the doc is booked the next 6-8 weeks. He's a very sought after knee surgeon in this land of old people. In the meantime, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, which pretty much removes walking more than a few hundred yards but that's enough to keep Cyrus happy!

    Hey Mul!

I'll take another day of freedom!

Glad to hear there's extra help Jude, that should make your duties less strenuous. The door wasn't as heavy as I thought, so I was able to roll it up and get Bubba's car out. She'll need to start her car a bit earlier in the morning or find her window scraper to clean the frost off the windows before driving until I get the door replaced.

We also can only buy alcohol in liquor stores Rava, but it seems you don't have to drive far to find one. I think there's 7 or 8 of them in Vegreville and almost the same amount of cannabis stores.

Thankfully nothing got damaged when the spring broke Ginger, it could have been a lot worse. How did your appointment go?

I couldn't remember where Mr Vervill was from dill, sounds like he's up your neck of the woods somewhere. At least you're back on track today dill, just keep on working at it. And hopefully they'll come up with something to fix up his knee.

I checked prices and delivery from 2 places online, HomeDepot and Lowes, just waiting to hear back from our local door and window supplier. And have to wait for a part to repair the boiler, seems like there's some confusion on the part number required so I have to go back out and get more information off the boiler for the wholesaler.

Good morning! Rava, that grocery/wine situation sounds like a nightmare. I know you will survive and conquer, but it really seems unfair.

Jude and Ginger, I hope you get my PM. I find the PM feature hard to navigate for some reason.

Ginger, hope you got good news from your doctor.

Jude, do you still go to AA? Just curious.

Cowboy, what's the status of your garage door? Hope you can get that taken care of in a timely manner.

Mr. D's knee doctor said due to blood clotting history he is a high risk for the knee surgery. They are going to try an alternative procedure called nerve ablation. The nerve that signals the knee pain is clipped. It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. He is going get a referral and learn more about it.

I'm embarrassed to say that I messed up yesterday. We had an auxiliary board meeting yesterday and afterward I stopped and bought. I am so sorry and disgusted with myself. Rava, I am so envious of your resolve. I'm going to get back on track today. Very of sorry I let myself down as well as Team Cafe.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Good morning Cafe! Jude, I am so glad they added a person to your volunteer job. With it being a bit easier physically you may like it more! I do struggle with living in Florida. All the retirees drinking their evening cocktails. Yesterday I had to make a quick run to my local grocery store (the one with all the alcohol). I was very observant to steer clear of the wine section, but noted there was a wine section at the end of just about every aisle in the store. I as surprised to see it literally all over the store as opposed to one place like Walmart has. I did NOT buy and do not plan on it. Today I start back at my volunteer job and looking forward to seeing past friends. Ginger, I hope you got the news you wanted from the doctor yesterday! Cowboy, glad you were not in the garage when that spring dropped. Yesterday i was outside and watering my real plants when my expandable hose literally blew open at the spigot. Scared the crap out of me. It’s always something thats for sure. Hi Dill and Mul. Hoping everyone has a wonderful Tuesday! 24 more please and thank you.

Cowboy, hope that you can get your garage doors fixed soon so that you don't break your back trying to get one open. Wow, they must be pretty heavy!

Rava, you definitely seem to struggle more with drinking thoughts when you're in Florida. I know that when I was vacationing there it seemed like everyone was drinking, and the grocery stores had so many aisles of wine and liquor. Here in N.Y. they only sell that in the liquor stores which makes it easier to abstain. Hang in there, thoughts are just thoughts until you act on them.

Ginger, hope that your doctors appointment went well yesterday and that you'll qualify for knee surgery. I know a lot of people say that having a knee replacement was the best thing that they ever did.

Dill, would you mind sending me your e-mail as well?

Yesterday went well at my volunteer job. They've added another person on my shift so the work load was much easier. Makes such a difference!

Jude, I hope you enjoy your volunteer job today. Having more hands on deck is really a great help, I'm sure. Hope you continue feeling well and the bouts of pneumonia stay in your rearview mirror! I felt your pain about the getting up at 3 yesterday, thinking it was 4:00. The Fall time change is much more challenging than the Spring change. I sincerely wish they would do away with the whole thing!

Rava, the flowers looked really beautiful. You did a great job of arranging them. They look very real. I totally understand how the change in location comes with a whole set of triggers. I truly think you've got this!

Wow, Cowboy! I didn't know that could happen with the garage door spring! Glad it happened when you were safe inside. Mr. Vervill lives in Bengals Territory and I remember he used to photograph them. Maybe he followed the Cincinnati Reds, too, but he never mentioned that, that I can recall.

Ginger, I will be happy to give you contact info outside of MWO. I would hate to lose touch with all of you. If you have mine as well as Cowboy's, Rava's, and Jude's, then you'll be the lynchpin in case we get shut out of MWO some day. I have a Facebook landing page but I do absolutely nothing on Facebook any more, so email might be better. I will PM it to you.

Mr. D is at the knee doctor this morning discussing his options for surgery.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
