Good morning cafe. Yes Cowboy we are heading north to spend Christmas with our family. We will be there for about 2 weeks. Flying tho, no more driving for us. I am glad that I am heading north as I also plan to visit my father, probably for the last time. His health has deteriorated terribly in the last few weeks. His wife is completely unaccepting of his fate and actually scheduled him to have rehab for strength. This actually makes me mad because I just want him to be comfortable and stop fighting. I guess everyone is different. Will check in tomorrow morning from the tiny house. Wishing everyone a great and sober day! 24 more please and thank you. PS Ginger, hope your report was good!

5:25am in Alberta, I'll have another 24 please, and thanks...

In the last 24 hours, these friends have signed in for 24 hours of wellness:
      Ginger999 Rava Jude58 dill

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Hopefully Ginger got some good news from the ortho Dr and he can do something for her knee.

Sad news about your dad Rava, but enjoy your visit with him.

I too love sugar cookies dill, do you cut them in Christmas shapes and decorate them fancy? I remember as small boys my brothers and I would help mom decorate the Christmas sugar cookies. She had cookie cutters shape like a star, Christmas tree, bell, and candy cane.

Waves to Jude and Mulburry, hope we all have a great day.

Rava, that's so hard. I hope you get a little alone time with your Dad so you can say a proper goodbye. Thinking of you and safe travels.

Glad the postal strike has ended. Boy howdy, that was an impactful time of year to do it! Personally, I'd wait to mail anything for a bit. Can you imagine the backlog?

My knee is far from needing replaced. Whew! He thinks I just didn't let it heal enough after surgery and now its terribly inflamed. He prescribed anti-inflammatory, said ice 2x a day and wear a sleeve on it, indefinitely if needed. Oh and rest it for five days. There's my problem! I'll be a good patient though, I'm tired of this.

Waves to my buddies! I'll take another day of freedom!

They said they'll go based on "first come first served" order so probably still best to get them in ASAP, but ya pretty much zero chance they get their before christams.

Just helped my mom with baking the last batch of cookies (traditional german christmas cookies: chocolate hazelnut "bear paws", and almond dough, appricot jam, icing sugar "naughty boys"). !

Sorry to hear about your dad Rava .

Glad to hear your knee not as bad as you'd feared Ginger999 . Resting is hard I know, but sometimes you have to bit the bullet!

Ginger, that's great news about your knee. Mr. G might have to tie you down to a chair so that you can heal properly.

Rava, enjoy your visit with your family, and I hope that you can spend a lot of time with your Dad.

I can't believe that Christmas is less than a week away. Yikes!

24 more for all of us please...

Yes indeed, Cowboy. I did it up just like your mom, including my kids plus the neighbor's kids. Those are some fond memories. I still decorate them but not like we used to do back in the day. And I usually just make Christmas trees, stars and snowballs.

Ginger, that's really good news about your knee! I know you are so active though, it must be so frustrating for you to have to baby it so much.

Rava, safe travels and enjoy your time up north. I wonder if you'll see any of those crazy drones that have been in the news. I hope you get to spend some time alone with your dad. I know it will be special to him to get to see you.

                Mul, so great that you and your mom still make Christmas cookies together! She's a lucky lady;

                Waves to you, Jude.

24 for all of us here, please and thank you.

Hopefully you made it to the tiny house safe and sound Rava and now to enjoy a couple of weeks with the family.

That's great news about the knee Ginger, now just to get you to follow the Dr's orders lol.

Those sound like quite the Christmas cookies Mulburry, I'm going to have to Google them to see what they are. We did end up sending out the packages to the kids, according to the tracking they should get them before Christmas but there is also a waiver that says they may not because of the heavy backlog.

You're right Jude, Christmas is just around the corner! And then it'll be into a new year, where does the time go...

Dill, you were right on when you said I should be careful what I wish for lol. We got about 6" of snow yesterday that I shoveled, then about another 2" overnight that I'll have to take care of this morning. I'm definitely getting my exercise in this year haha. I'll have to give Corey a call to see when he's going to out with the tractor and plow and see if he can swing up to the farm and clear the lane and yard.

We are headed toward a string of unseasonably warm weather. It's funny how 1,400 miles can make such a weather difference. It's cold, gray and miserable, I hear back home.

Be careful shoveling, to those that must! That's a hard workout for anybody

Those cookies sound amazing. I'll PM you guys my AZ address. lol

Going to lunch with a group to celebrate a birthday. There will be no drinking for me! I'll take another day of freedom.

Same here, doesn't look like we'll have a white christmas, looks like it'll just be one rainstorm after another for the foreseable future. I guess I should be thankfull that these deluges of rain aren't coming down as snkow.

We're supposed to have a little snow today and tomorrow with really cold temps. Right now we don't have any snow on the ground but hopefully we will have a white Christmas.

I went to a meeting yesterday and the topic was "alcohol, cunning, baffling and powerful." How many times have we found that to be true. Those thoughts about drinking pop up at random times, and we always need to have some kind of defense against them. It's been hard for me to resist drinking lately due to the holidays and the booze that goes with it. I just have to keep reminding myself that taking that first drink will put me right back down that rabbit hole again.

24 more for all of us please...

Wow, Cowboy! That's a lot of! shoveling. With all that practice you must be getting really good at it.

Jude, thanks for sharing. I wish I could have heard the speakers at your meeting yesterday. The holidays are a challenge for me too.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, but I'm afraid that's the only place I'll see one this year! Oh well.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
